My Ambition in Life

Good morning to the panel of honourable judges, teachers and friends. On this fine
morning, I would like to talk about My Ambition in Life.

Different persons have different ambitions in life. It is always a good thing to have an
ambition in ones life. A person without an aim or ambition in life is an unfortunate person.
Such people do not have a set destination. They fail to achieve anything in their entire life.
An ambition is an incentive to a person to work hard and to achieve success in life.

Some persons dream of becoming leaders, politicians and social reformers. Some
want to amass wealth, others want to achieve fame and still others want to serve the
mankind. There are others who have a craze for becoming poets and writers whereas most
of the people generally have a desire of becoming doctors, engineers or scientists. Thus
ambitions differ from person to person. One should also work hard to achieve his ambition.
Your must make vigorous efforts to achieve your aim in life. Efforts are part of your success
without which you cannot realize anything.

Ladies and gentlemen,

I also have an aim in my life. My ambition in life is to become a teacher. Wealth does
not lure me. The idea of simple living and high thinking inspires me to become a teacher.

The sole object of my life is to lead a life of simplicity and goodness devoted to the service
of others. The good examples set by the great teachers of the past are before me. Their life
and work inspire me very much to devote myself to become a teacher.

As a teacher, I want to serve my country in my own humble way. There are a lot of
illiterate people in Malaysia. Removal of illiteracy is the most urgent need today. The role of
a teacher is supreme here. I wish to do what I can to educate the students. A good teacher
is a real friend, philosopher and guide of the students. The teacher removes the darkness of
ignorance from the minds of the students and fills them with knowledge and noble ideals. A
teacher should be a model to the students and to the society.

Malaysia can develop into a great nation if the problem of illiteracy is removed. I think
that I can do my best to remove this problem in my own little way as a teacher. The students
of today are the citizens of tomorrow. So I will lay great stress on the character formation of
my students. A good teacher is the architect of the destiny of the students. Thus I will play
my humble role in the building of my nation.

In the words of a great teacher and the former President of India, Teachers are the
custodians of the highest value. I have great faith in the life of a noble and ideal teacher. I

am convinced that my preference to become a teacher is a step in the right direction. I will,
therefore, spare no effort to achieve this ambition of my life. With that, thank you.
