Teacher Training
Before lessons can be taught at the school,
the teachers must understand the
importance of every topic. Therefore,
Teacher Training is the first step. Teachers
will learn about the Topic and then will
learn how to lead activities for each topic.

Handwashing Stations
• 3 Handwashing Stations were created
at the Iqbal School
• All students and teachers must
wash their hands with
disinfectant before entering the
classroom
• Disinfectant will kill germs that
cause diarrhea, common colds,
and impetigo (the three major
treatable health problems at the
school)
• Since the hand-washing stations
have been installed, a very
popular activity for children in the village now is washing their hands.
Ren’s mom
• She is a single mother
with three children and
is infected with AIDS.
Her husband severely
beat her when he found
out he was infected and
had infected his wife. He
took all their valuable
possessions, including
the family bicycle and
fled.

• Her son dropped out of school because the

walk to school was too long.
• With the new bike, he is back in school and
is one of the top students in his age group.

• At Doctor Day, on March

27th, the whole family
will be tested for HIV /
AIDS.
Student ID Cards
• 359 children completed
registration forms and received
an ID card with a unique Student
Number
• Now, due to HH’s ability to track

decompressor incorporated in Angkor Hospital

for Children’s Home Care
Program
• On March 27th, 8 doctors, nurses,
and medical equipment will come
to Iqbal School and for the first
time, 250 students will have the
opportunity to see a doctor for a
medical check-up

Lberk’s Work for Bicycle

Project
• HH discussed the opportunity for
villagers to work on a
community-identified project in
order to earn desired goods.
• The Village Leader identified a
problem: over 90 homes were
inaccessible, especially during the
rainy season. The only route to
the homes was through rice fields or streams.
• HH suggested that a
representative from
every household in the
village (245) have the
opportunity to work for
4 days. After 4 days, the
villagers could earn a
bicycle valued at $35.
The villagers would have
to come to Siem Reap in
order to pick out their
bicycle which would be
equipped with a light,
basket, and bell.
• The Village Leader
encouraged the
villagers to work
for 5 days.
• HH was told that 8
groups of 30
representatives
would work
Monday through
Friday, and on
Saturday, would
arrive in Siem Reap
for a bicycle.
• Within 12 days, all
245 representatives
had worked for 5 days and a 500 meter road was completed.
• For the next 8 weeks, groups of 30 representatives will be receiving the
bicycles they earned.
• The villagers have decided to volunteer their time and energy and continue
to world together to construct a new road to reach even more houses.
