THE POLYLINE AND MULTILINE COMMANDS

The POLYLINE Command


The POLYLINE (PL) command is used to draw a single line or series of lines and an arc or
series of arcs from one point to another as a single entity unlike the line command.
Properties:

Line

Line and Arc with zero starting and ending width.

Starting point of line

Step by Step:

Type POLYLINE or PL at the command line and press

Click at any point or use absolute coordinates to specify (X 1, Y1) point on the
drawing area.

Click at any point or use coordinates to specify (Xn, Yn) a point on the drawing
area,

Type arc (A) to draw arc and press

Note: You can create as many lines as possible or you can undo a given point by typing
undo (u) on the command line after each point or undo a drawn line after the line
command.

The MULTILINE Command


The MULTILINE (ML) command is used to draw a single line or series of lines or pairs of
line/s from one point to another as a single entity.
Properties:

Length of Multiline

Angle

Starting point

End point

Multilines Editing Tools Dialog Box

Options:

Justifications
Top, Zero, and Bottom
Scale
S = 1 (one unit from the center line)
Top
1 unit
Zero
1 unit
Bottom

Style
Standard (Default)

You can create new style by typing MLSTYLE on the Command window.
Note: Double click on the multiline to open Multilines Edit Tools.
Step by Step:

Type MLINE or ML at the command line and press

Specify start point or [Justification/Scale/STyle]:

Click at any point or use absolute coordinates to specify (x1, y1) a point on the
drawing area.

After specifying the first point,

Specify another point or press

to terminate the Polyline command.

Note: You can set Justification/Scale/Style/ before specifying the first point.
You can create new style by typing MLSTYLE on the Command window.

MULTILINE EDITING
Step by Step:

Double click the MLINE to open the Multiline Edit Tool Dialog Box.

Select Corner Joint.

Select L1 then L2

The RECTANGLE Command


The RECTANGLE (RECTANG) command is used to specify the rectangle parameters (length,
width, rotation) and control the type of corners (fillet, chamfer, or square).
Properties:

Rectangle Menu Properties

First Corner
Other Corner
Area
Total Length
Global Width

Step by Step:

Type RECTANGLE or RECTANG at the command line and press

Click at any point or use absolute coordinates to specify (X1, Y1) point on the
drawing area.
Specify other corner point or [Area/Dimensions/Rotation]:

You can edit the Rectangle by double click on it (see Rectangle Edit Options).

The POLYGON Command


The POLYGON command is used to create an equilateral closed Polyline.
Properties:

Polygon Menu Properties

Center
Radius
Area
Elevation
Global Width

Step by Step:

Type POLYGON at the command window and press

Type the number of sides say 8 and press


Specify center of polygon or [Edge]:

Click at any point or use absolute coordinates to specify (X1, Y1) point on the
drawing area.
Enter an option [Inscribed in circle/Circumscribed about circle] <C>: I

Specify radius of circle: 40

Type value of radius and press
