Sabbath Day!

According to certain traditions that the Pharisees and the Scribes had built up
around the Mosaic Law, Healing was considered to be work.
Therefore, even Healing was not permissible on the Sabbath Day.
These self-righteous Pharisees and Scribes believed that they served God by
zealously keeping and enforcing these peripheral traditions.
However, such legalism actually made them insensitive to Gods Great Mercy.
When our Compassionate Lord Jesus Christ told the people especially those who
criticised Him for Healing the Bowed Woman on the Sabbath to ... think of it!
He was commanding them to consider how it felt to suffer for so long to put
themselves in that position in order to understand the suffering that she had so
patiently endured.
Furthermore, our Holy Church Fathers regard this Divine Commandment ...
think of it!... as directing our attention to a profound Spiritual Meaning of the
... eighteen years.
The Greek expression is literally ten and eight years.
St Ambrose and St Theophylact understood this as representing the Ten
Commandments and the Eighth Day, which is the beginning of Eternity and
the General Resurrection of all mankind by Divine Grace.
Consequently, all mankind is uplifted by Faith in Christ Who fulfils both the
entire Mosaic Law and Divine Grace.
