The Message of our Prophet (P.B.U.H.)

By Amal Sohail & Adnan Sohail
In the name of Allah, The Most Gracious, The Most Merciful.

Prophet Muhammad (Peace and Blessings of Allah be upon him; PBUH.) is the most
unique person found in history. The Muslims believe him (PBUH) to be the final
Prophet. He (PBUH) is therefore given the label of the Seal of the Prophet Hood. As
the name suggests, there would be no more Prophets after him (PBUH). Islam also
tells us that he (PBUH) is a Mercy to the whole of human kind and the Universe. He
(PBUH) is the only person in history whose life is fully recorded in books.
It is not only Muslims who speak of his (PBUH) being the greatest person on earth.
There are some Western Historians too who hold him at high esteem. One of these
Historians is Michael Hart who, in his book, 'The 100: A Ranking of the most
influential persons in history' has placed him at the first rank.
Prophet Muhammad (PBUH), even before he was made a Prophet, was considered to
be the most honest person by the Arab pagans. His mercy knew no bounds and there
are endless events that tell us how compassionate he (PBUH) was. Once when the
Holy Prophet (PBUH) was asleep under a tree, a desert Arab came upon him with a

sword. The account continues:

He [the Bedouin] said: Who can save you from me now? The Holy Prophet (PBUH)
said: Allah. The sword fell from his hand. The Prophet (PBUH) picked it up and said:
Who can save you from me now? The man said: Be a better wielder of the sword [the
meaning is: Forgive me]. The Holy Prophet (PBUH) said: Do you testify that there is
no god but Allah and that I am the messenger of Allah? He said: No, but I promise
that I shall not fight you or side with those who fight you. So the Holy Prophet
(PBUH) let him go.
(Mishkat al-Masabih, ch. Reliance on God and Patience, Sec. 3)

Looking at these important facts about the Holy Prophet (PBUH), it is evident that
indeed he (PBUH) is the best of mankind. We should try to follow him in every aspect
of our lives. In other words he should be our role-model. We could be like him by
reading Sahih Ahadeeth and learn the best way of living an everyday life. We should
love Allah and the Messenger of Allah (PBUH) more than anything else in the whole
world. Since the Prophet (PBUH) is not present amongst us, we could only try to be
like him (PBUH) to show affection towards him. A moral of one of the Sahih
Ahadeeth is that on the Day of Judgment a person would be with those people whom
he loves. It is like a dream come true to sit in the company of the Prophet (PBUH), the
best person that has ever lived and ever will be.
Having discussed the paramount qualities of the Holy Prophet and the Messenger of
Allah (PBUH), it is shocking to know that such a great personality is being mocked by
the European countries these days. This is not the first time something of this sort has
happened. In fact mockery and physical insult of the Prophet (PBUH) had begun the
day he (PBUH) started conveying the Message of Allah to the Arabs. But how did our
beloved Prophet (PBUH) react to such ignorant people? He treated them with
kindness and prayed to Almighty Allah to guide them on the right path.

An incident that illustrates Prophets (PBUH) love and tolerance for mankind is that
when the Prophets people rejected him, Arch Angel Jirbril came to him and said,
Allah has heard what your people say to you and how they reject you. He has ordered
the angels of the mountains to obey whatever you tell them to do. The angel of the
mountains called him, greeted him and said, Send me to do what you wish. If you
wish, I will crush them between the two mountains of Makkah. The Prophet said,
Rather, I hope that Allah will bring forth from their loins those who will worship
Allah alone and not associate anything with Him. (Muslim Bukhari and the Six
Books).
The Prophet (PBUH) had no other concern than our being happy in this life and the
Hereafter, which we could achieve by paying heed to his teachings. In spite of this he
(PBUH) was ridiculed very harshly. Who would want to make fun of a person who
tries to keep others happy? Today this mockery is only the result of the negligence of
the European countries towards the personality of the Prophet (PBUH).
The message of peace, mercy and tolerance that he (PBUH) communicated applies
just as much to us today as it did 1400 years ago. Allah sent the Last Prophet to all
humanity for all times to come, and protecting the Prophets character is the right of
every Muslim. This protection however needs to be carefully planned and be effective
enough to win the hearts of the non-Muslims. Instead of burning their consulates and
embassies, the Muslims should strive to spread awareness among the Europeans of the
true teachings of the Prophet (PBUH). Reacting violently in order to defend the

exemplary character of our Prophet (PBUH) goes against the principles of his
teachings.
We should not grieve over what the Europeans have done by publishing cartoons
degrading the Prophet (PBUH) as it would not harm him in anyway. Muslims should
observe patience and educate themselves first and then others on the Prophets
(PBUH) life and teachings and not adopt ways that would only drive people away
from Islam.
