County
Create a clay labyrinth for focus
ZUMBROTA With their single winding path toward a center,
labyrinths can symbolize a journey toward inner peace or spiritual
understanding. Crossings offers a class in making a labyrinth from
clay, to be traced with a finger for meditation, prayer or focus.
Creating Your Own Finger Labyrinth with Clay, takes place Nov.
19 and Dec. 3, 6:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. Students will choose from one
of four templates that each have space at the center for personalized
ornamentation. Labyrinths will be glazed during the second class.
A finger labyrinth is the perfect size for home or office, where
people can make use of it whenever they wish to feel centered and
focused.
Labyrinths, combining a circle and a spiral or wandering path, are
found all over the world in ancient to modern construction. The
labyrinth differs from the maze in that a labyrinth has a single route
through it with many twists and turns, while a maze has confusing
pathways with many branches, choices and often dead ends.
The labyrinth signifies that ones path to inner peace or to reach god
is often long and complex, but in the end, achievable. The labyrinth
experience is a highly personal one and there are no hard and fast rules
to describe how or why it should be used.
Register by calling 507-732-7616 or stopping in at 320 East Ave.,
Zumbrota. For full details on these and other classes and all the happenings at Crossings, visit www.crossingsatcarnegie.com.

ZUMBROTA The Fabulous Armadillos, a talent-packed band

that wows audiences with their themed cover concerts, are back with
a brand new show: Lucky Sevens, featuring great songs from 1957,
67, 77 and 87. They return to the State Theatre on Friday, November 27, at 7:30 p.m.
The show is a trip through time through four musically transformative years: 1957, 1967, 1977 and 1987. Each year has a wealth of great
songs and artists, from Buddy Holly to the Beatles, the Bee Gees to
Bon Jovi. Each year was a turning point in music and a pivotal time for
change in the landscape of pop music.
As always, the Fabulous Armadillos will bring along a wealth of
special guests, so they can perform spot-on recreations of the songs.
Audiences will travel in time over this 30 year window of our history,
focusing on these four individual years which were some of the
very best!
Past Fabulous Armadillos shows include Motown hits and, combined with Collective Unconscious, paying tribute to the Eagles and
the Doobie Brothers. The bands most recent show in Zumbrota was
the popular, Stadium Rock, in May.
The Fabulous Armadillos deliver a dose of fun and rock and roll.
Audience members walk out of these concerts asking when the band
is scheduled to return. Listeners close their eyes and are listening to all
those vinyl records again.
Each Armadillos concert involves the core five-member band and
special guests suited to the theme. The core band includes keyboardist
Greg Gary D. Armstrong, who toured worldwide with Bobby Vee
and GB Leighton for 15 years; guitarist Paul Stretch Diethelm, who
toured worldwide with Jonny Lang and opened for The Stones,
Aerosmith, Sting and many others; bassist Mike Zeleny; Billy Scherer,
the amazing singer Eagles tribute audiences heard sing Desperado
and New Kid In Town; and Jay ODonnell on drums.

Hear Michael Johnsons Moonlit

Dj vu at Crossings
ZUMBROTA Best known for his 1978 hit, Bluer than Blue,
Michael Johnsons music career has moved forward with a 2012
album, Moonlit Dj vu. He performs at Crossings on Saturday,
November 28, at 7:30 p.m.
The album coincided with a return to Minneapolis and budding
relationship with a daughter he met for the first time a few years ago.
Johnsons music is more varied than those who know him only from
his pop music might guess. He also has had number one hits in country
and R&B, all graced by the warmth in his voice even as his style
evolved. Though hes known for pop hits like, Bluer than Blue,
This Night Wont Last Forever, and Thats That, his first love is
the intimacy and spontaneity of a solo concert.
With Moonlit Dj Vu, the singer and fingerstyle guitarist delivers an acoustic masterpiece. Not only does the album serve as a
homecoming of sorts by featuring top Twin Cities players Johnson
came to know when he lived there from 1969-1985, but it also records
a relationship between a father and daughter who were apart most of
her life but have found each other.
Johnson never knew his daughter, who was adopted when she was
four days old, but he knew she was out there. Efforts to locate her 20
years ago were unsuccessful, but in 2009 he received an email from
daughter Truly Carmichael, who is a classically trained vocalist now
living in Minnesota.
The two sing together on the poignant original, One Mile Apart,
about being close to someone and not even knowing it. Nostalgic and
romantic, Moonlit Dj Vu is a portrait of a man who has lived
through fame and success as well as loss and illness. Fans will delight
in hearing Johnsons new songs, which are intimate and authentic,
lending themselves perfectly to the musicians riveting solo acoustic
performances.
