SUDOKU COMPETITION

Grade 4 10
A simple but effective way for the students to exercise their mind in numbers is
playing Sudoku card. It will develop their critical thinking skills through patterns,
numbers and problem solving.

Objectives:

To develop critical thinking skills of the students and


Solve patterns on numbers.

Allotted time:

45 minutes

Procedures:

On September 11, 2015 (Friday), the teacher will start to introduce to the
students everything about the game SUDOKU: how to solve and understand
patterns on the game. So that it will be fair for each student to play because
all of them will know how to play the game.

The Sudoku game will be held on September 15, 2015 (Tuesday) on their
Mathematics class.

Students from grade 4 to 10 will be given a Sudoku card. There will be two
parts of the competition, 1st is the elimination round were in every students
will answer the Sudoku card given to them in 45 minutes on their
Mathematics time. Those who are able to answer correctly the Sudoku card
will advance to the next round. 2nd round will be held on September 16, 2015
(Wednesday) 4:00 5:00 PM, were in those students who pass the 1 st round
will compete to each other, the first student who answer correctly the Sudoku
card will name as the champion.

RUBIKS CUBE COMPETITION


A simple but effective way for the students to exercise their mind in terms of
patterns is playing Rubiks Cube. It will develop their critical thinking skills through
patterns and reasoning.

Objectives:

To practice their thinking skills through analysing patterns of the students and
To appreciate the beauty of playing Rubiks cube.

Allotted time: 20 minutes


Procedures:
The teacher will announce to the students on September 14, 2015 (Monday) on
their mathematics class that there will be a Rubiks Cube competition on September
16, 2015 (Wednesday) and it will be held on their Mathematics time.
Mechanics:
Each student will bring their own Rubiks Cube. There will be two parts of the
competition, for the 1st round, it is the elimination round were in all students will
solve the Rubiks cube within 15 minutes and whoever the first one to solve will
advance to the 2nd round. On 2nd round those who advance from 1st round will
compete to each other and whoever the 1st one to solve the Rubiks cube will be
name as the Champion.

Problem Solving
Grade 8
Learning is more effective if each individual can apply and experience what they
need to learn, in this project the students will be given a chance to solve and
analyse problems at same time they will be ask to present their work to their
classmates.

Objectives:

To develop the critical thinking skills and


Self-confidence of each student.

Allotted time: 5 minutes for each student

Mechanics:
The teacher will give each student a problem to solve, those problems are all
related to their topics in second quarter and it will required the use of Cartesian
Coordinate Plane.
Each student will create their own Cartesian plane and it will be their materials in
their presentation.
The students will be graded based on the Rubrics below:

Math Snacks

Grade 9
One of the best situation that represents variation in real life situation are those we
interact every day in market, as the number of their working days increases the
amount of their income also increases, and that is exactly what is direct variation.

Objectives:

To experience the feeling of being a business men/women in a simple way


and
To Identify How Their learnings in Mathematics be apply in real life situation.

Procedure:
The grade 9 students will choose what product to sell on Friday after lunch and
Monday to Tuesday in their class time. They will sell the product on the said days
above, and on Wednesday they will discuss to the subject teacher their experience
and present how variation is apply in their project.

Math Student Teacher

Grade 10
Sometimes even if the topic was clearly understand by the students it is forgotten,
since the second periodic examination is now approaching it is good to have a
review for the upcoming examination, and it is more effective if the students itself
will be the one to conduct.

Objectives:

To recall the previous lessons in circles and


To develop the self-confidence of each student through teaching.

Procedure:

Each student will be given an assign topic to discuss to their classmates and it will
serve as their review for the upcoming periodic examinations. This will held during
their class time on Thursday (Oct. 1, 2015), Monday (Oct. 5, 2015) to Tuesday (Oct.
6, 2015).
