Waste Management
Power plant activities is also predicted to produce the B3 waste, liquid or solid
form. B3 solid waste generated in the form of used batteries and transformers. This
material is a waste material that has been used for start-up genset engine. B3 solid waste
management is done by collecting them in a temporary collection which further
processed and managed by third parties for recycling.
1.4.2 Liquid Waste
Regulation for B3 waste management is based on. Keputusan Kepala Bapadal No.
01 / BAPEDAL / 09/1995 and 02 / BAPEDAL / 09/1995. While the B3 waste collection
is carried out not more than 90 days.
1.4.2.1 LiBr Solution Waste
LiBr concentrated solution is the only liquid waste produced. These solution are
moderately to highly irritant. That is why wastes from deactivated catalyst are
categorized as hazardous wastes that harm environment and people. Hazardous wastes
that are disposed of improperly can pollute the air, land, groundwater, and waterway
harming the environment and threatening community health. So, it is important that any
amount of hazardous waste be managed properly to avoid contaminating the
environment.
Treatment for deactivated catalyst cannot be done by our own plant. The
deactivated catalyst in salt solution form will be treated by PT Persada Pamunah Limbah
Industri. This treatment based on PP No. 18, year 1999 (Pengolahan Limbah B3 that
referred on UU No.23, year 1997 about environment management). There is also stated
in PP No. 18, year 1999, that B3 waste can be store for max. 90 days before handed to
waste Management Company.
1.4.2.2 Lubricant waste
Meanwhile, B3 liquid waste generated in the form of used lubricating oil used for
power generation and the oil derived from the processing of electricity. B3 liquid waste
management is done by collecting them in a temporary collection which then handed
over to the collector who meet the requirements.
