Title

Amendments in the qualification for candidacy of president,

vice and members of the congress.

2.

Main Idea of thesis statement

Should the present qualifications for the presidency, vice-presidency and

membership of the congress be amended because of the increasing number of
nuisance candidates and incompetent officers.

3.

Introduction

With the advent of the 2016 Elections, local and national politicians are introducing
themselves in a myriad of ways - some are ramping up their presence on trimeda,
whilst the others try to target the young intellectuals from the academe. There are
even a number of eccentric characters who have filed their Certificates of
Candidacy, which the Commission on Elections and the general public are
considering as nuisance candidates. As seen from the contemporary times, the
Philippine political sphere has been volatile, comparable even to a pendulum
whereby one administration has more or less been the opposition of its predecessor.
A number of laws have been struck down by the Supreme Court as unconstitutional.
The political scene in general has also become a spectacle of the personal woes and
drama of the leaders, which the media capitalizes upon and feed the people with.
Beyond this however lies the perrenial issue of whether or not the current
qualifications required by law to run for public office are sufficient standards by
which to elect good leaders, particularly the President, Vice- President and members
of the Congress

4.

Significance of research

Coherency in the laws

To stop the proliferation of unresponsive laws that do not address the needs
of the public

5.

Arguments

The proposed amendment in the qualifications for the candidacy of president,

vice-president and members of Congress will raise the standards for the candidacy
of public office

The sorting of the candidates due to the raised standards will produce more
competent public servants
Competent public servants will produce responsive laws
These responsive laws will create an avenue for a more organized
governmental schedule which would create harmonious relationship between the
government and the people

6.

Conclusion

The proposed amendment for the qualifications for candidacy for president, VicePresident and members of congress will raise the standards for Philippine
leadership. By way of this change, the Philippines would expect more competent
and effective public servants and having these competent public servants who are
knowledgeable in the dynamics of law, the Philippine Congress thereby produces
coherent legislation. This coherence in legislation would thus create a harmonious
political relationship between and among governmental bodies and between the
state and its people.
