WELCOME!
Thank you for coming to First Presbyterian Church of
Orlando this morning! So glad youre here. We worship
together as a church family in four services on Sundays:
Traditional worship in the Sanctuary at 8:30 and 11am, and
Genesis worship in Lee Fellowship Hall at 9:45 and 11am. If
youd like to connect and learn more about this church, visit
our Legacy Room adjacent to the Sanctuary, or you can visit
fpco.org/guest.
NEXT STEP
Joy and freedom comes when we put the needs of others
in front of our own. If you know someone who brings
Christs love to those who are hurting, they could be a great
Stephen Minister. We are currently accepting nominations
for the upcoming training class in January. Nominate
yourself or someone else for this unique ministry at
fpco.org/stephen, or call Tammas Smith at 407.423.3441
x1455.
TODAY
Tickets are on sale this morning for our original Christmas
production, God in Time, presented by First Presbyterian
Church of Orlando Chancel Choir and orchestra on
December 13 at 4pm in our Sanctuary. This journey from
before the existence of time and creation will place the
birth of a baby boy in a stable in Bethlehem in the larger
story. This concert is evangelical in nature, so bring your
friends. Buy your tickets and choose your seats in the lobby
of the Edington Ministry Center this morning, or online
during the week at fpco.org/concert.
Each year we print flower dedications in honor or in
memory of loved ones in our Christmas Eve worship
bulletin. Your donations help support the purchase of
poinsettias, greens and wreaths that fill the Sanctuary
during the Advent season. Dedications are $10 and due
by December 8. Submit yours online at fpco.org/flowers or
pick up a form in the lobby of the Edington Ministry Center.
NEXT WEEK
Be part of a First Pres holiday tradition by blessing others
during this season of sharing. Ornaments on our Giving Tree
meet specific needs for our mission partners and families in
our own communities. Stop by the Edington Ministry Center
Lobby or entrance to Lee Fellowship Hall to pick up an
ornament. fpco.org/givingtree

NOTES
TRADITIONAL WORSHIP
There are times in all of our lives when life is hard. Our
worlds will have stress, difficulty, heartache, disease, and
grief; Jesus tells us that will be the case. At least one
day in seven we have the privilege of physically coming
together with brothers and sisters in faith. We retune our
hearts and minds to those things that are true about God
and we encounter Him in worship in the midst of life.
Rather than attempting to integrate God into the way our
lives are weaving, we meld our life into the mold God is
making of us. Sometimes it is pleasant and sometimes not
so pleasant. How our heart responds is key. Martin Rinkart
(1586-1649) was a Lutheran pastor in Germany during the
horrid Thirty-Years War. His parish was in the walled refuge
city of Eilenberg, Saxony. Due to the war, there was great
overcrowding, disease, and plague. The other pastors
died or left until he was the only one left. He conducted
as many as fifty funerals a day and over 4,000 in one
year, including that of his wife. In the midst of this great
suffering comes the hymn he wrote, Now Thank We All
Our God. As you sing the words, think of Rinkarts context
as he wrote the hymn. How our broken hearts respond to
God and the gift of seeing the biggest picture in life and
death is key. May our hearts breathe gratitude throughout
this morning in the midst of the struggles and cares of our
lives as we encounter the living Lord in worship. Now
thank we all our God, with hearts, and hands, and voices.!
