Bioethics: A good choice for the human?

Bioethics is the manipulation of life and the environment through technology and
this has worked the last 20 years and has had good and bad consequences for
humanity. In Colombia, bioethics is an issue that isnt common in our country and
that is why many people believe that brings harm to society . Despite the beginning
of this research , the term is not used as it should be in this country and despite
progress in other countries, Colombia is retrasdo even on issues of bioethics . The
term comes to Colombia in 1976 thanks to Dr. Jaime Escobar Triana, quein estab
concerned about the rights of their patients. The main human rights that bioethics
works are the right to life and health , so topics such as euthanasia , organ
donation, cloning, among others, it have been instrumental in today's society.
Euthanasia is the taking of human life on request of that person for this is
voluntary. This topic has been a very controversial issue because many people
think that is a suicide and not a form to die with dignity. These views are acceptable
but in certain times arent correct, when a person has a degenerative or terminal
illness is suffering, for this take the decision to end with his life. Maybe for the
family could be hard but its more harder to see the beloved suffering for many
years. The religion doesnt agree with this way of dying , as they claim that God is
the only one who can decide to end the life of a person, this is respectable but
maybe God doesnt agree with the pain of a person for a long time and die in such
a terrible way. In Colombia, the first official case of euthanasia is of the father of
the cartoonist, Matador, who said that his father was sufferinf a lot of pain for his
cancer.
Another important in the bioethics is the cloning, there are several forms of cloning
but the more questionable is human cloning , which is responsible for completely
clone a human. Although they havent developed the important elements to carry

out cloning , science is progressing and soon this will be a reality. Certainly this is
not a good idea, because when scientists cloned a human cloned only the body
and not its essence that differentiates it from others. Therefore cloning wouldnt be
good choice for humans, as it certainly would be creating only emotionless
bodies.In Colombia, there is not enough technology to be investigated.

One issue is linked to cloning organ donation , is at the clonancion difrenecia if

good choice for humans because it can save many lives. Organ donation not only
helps people with problems in their viatales organs but also those who need tissue
or corneas. One of the main beneficiaries of the donation are children born with
health

problems

and

thanks

to

these

donors

may

have

second

chance.Unfortunately , in Colombia the rate of donors is very low compared to the

United States , for this is it so important to make society aware of the importance of
this issue .
In conclusion bioethics , its a great opportunity for technology in health to improve
the quality of life of humans. Although some people are against bioethics, this
branch of science has become an issue that we care and affects all as a society.
We are all exposed to suffer a terminal illness and at some point we will have to
use the knowledge of bioethics to take care of our life. I think the world is moving
very fast in bioethics and our country should not be left behind , so the government
should educate people on these issues so that they can meet and decide whether
they are good or not for them and their families.
