 To support management-level in their day to day operation.

 Provide summarized reports based on routine transaction derived from

transaction. processing system (TPS) and historical data for managers.

 Mostly data is derived internally.

 The system will be less analytical and less flexible as it only shows the historical
data.

 Provides reports with fixed and standard formats.

 Hard-copy and soft-copy reports.

 Uses internal data stored in the computer system.

 End users can develop custom reports.

 Requires formal requests from users.

 An MIS supports transaction handling and record keeping.

 An MIS uses an integrated database and supports a variety of functional areas.

 An MIS provides operational-, tactical-, and strategic-level managers with east

access to timely but, for the most, structured information.

 An MIS is somewhat flexible and can be adapted to meet the changing

information needs of the organization.

 An MIS can boost system security by limiting access to authorized personnel.

Q3: Define subsystems with the help of examples?

A: A unit or device that is part of a larger system. For example, a disk is a subsystem of a
computer system. A bus is a part of the computer. A subsystem usually refers to
hardware, but it may be used to describe software. However, "module," "subroutine" and
"component" are more typically used to describe parts of software.
