Course Objectives:
To streamline the theoretical work of Electronic Devices and Circuits with practical hands on
experience to enhance the understanding of the subject. The Lab work will be performed as under:a. Attendance: Attendance has a weightage of 10%. There will be no retake of Labs unless and
until approved by the course instructor.

b. Pre-Lab Work: Students will be required to go through the theoretical part of the experiment
before coming to the Lab. Pre-Lab work should be treated as a small homework. And should be
written up in your lab notebook. Students will be asked questions during the lab session.
c. In-Lab Work: Hands on practical work using test equipment for taking measurements by
constructing circuits on the breadboard and then verifying theoretical knowledge. This will be
given 15% weightage.
d. Post-Lab Work: Post-Lab work is related to the students interpretation of the results obtained
during the in-lab work. Calculation of results from observed data and formation of graphs.
Followed by Computer Simulations using Proteus. In addition, at the end of each exercise
students will be asked questions that can only be answered after performing the experiment.
e. Quizzes: Frequent unannounced quizzes will be taken during the course of the lab to ensure
understanding of the subject. Quizzes will have a weightage of 15%.
f.

Mid Term Exam: Students will have one Mid Term Exam. It will have a weightage of 15%.

g. Design Project : A Design Project will be given to students after completion of the lab course.
The scope of this project will be to provide an insight to PCB designing and implementation of a
self created circuit board. PCB Drilling, mounting of different components on the PCB and
soldering connections. The students will work on this project in groups of three. The scope of this
project will envelop almost all the theoretical topics covered in the subject. The students can also
come up with their own ideas regarding the projects. It will have a weightage of 15%.
h. Lab Exam: A Lab Exam will be taken after the completion of the Lab course. This will have a
weightage of 30%.

General Instructions:
a. All experiments will be setup in the Lab with the help of Lab staff and student.
b. No more than three students will work in one group and hence on one Lab Manual.
c. Proper record of attendance will be maintained. If a student does not show up in the Lab he/she
will be graded zero and there will be no retake of labs.
d. The student will be required to show results/observations which will be graded.
e. Students are required to maintain the lab manual with them till the end of the semester.
f. All readings, answers to questions and illustrations must be solved on the place provided. If more
space is required then additional sheets may be attached. You may add screen print to the report

instructor.
Loss of manual will result in re-submission of the complete manual.
Students must bring the manual in each lab.
Keep the manual neat clean and presentable.
Plagiarism is strictly forbidden. No credit will be given if a lab session is plagiarized and no re-

submission will be entertained.

k. Marks will be deducted for late submission.
l. Write your names, class, sections, and your serial no on your Lab Manuals to avoid loss and
theft.
