Fitting Your Dental Guard

What You Will Need To Begin

Microwave or stove

Step 1: Load Guard and Practice Fitting

Disposable Fitting Tray

Practice positioning

the tray. While

looking in a mirror,
place the loaded
fitting tray in your
mouth and center
the alignment tab in
the middle of your two front teeth. Your teeth should
be aligned in the center of the moldable material.

Step 2:

Heating your Guard

Choose A Heating Method:

Method 1 ( Microwave Guard In Water)

Remove the boiling water

from heat source and let it
rest for 10 seconds. Use
caution when removing
from heat.

Fill a microwave safe bowl with

1 cup (8 oz) of cool water. Place

the loaded fitting tray face

down in the water and heat on
high for 2 minutes (For low

wattage microwaves heat for 2

minutes, 20 seconds).

Place the tray with the

guard face down in the hot
water for 45 seconds.

Remove the bowl of water

from the microwave. Bowl

may be hot. Use caution

when removing.

Step 3:

Custom Fit Your Guard

Method 2 ( Heat Water Separately)

Usinga microwave or stove, bring
a bowl or pot of water to a rolling
boil. (Bubbles should rise up from
the bottom of the pot and burst
open at the surface). Water
should be at least 1.5 inches deep.
Microwave times will vary
anywhere from 3 to 8 minutes.

Remove tray with a fork,

using the openings in the
tray handle. Quickly rinse
under cool tap water (no
more than a few seconds).

Immediately place the fitting

tray in your mouth. Do not bite
down yet. While looking in
your mirror, position the
alignment tab in the center and
slightly back from front teeth.
Center your teeth front to back
while aligning front teeth in
moldable material. Be sure to
leave some material in front of
your front teeth. The sides of
the tray should be positioned
below your back molars.
Firmly bite down, covering
your front teeth with the
moldable material of the
dental guard. Relaxyour bite
and wait 2 minutes while the
material hardens.

Gently remove the dental

guard and fitting tray from
your mouth and rinse
under cool water for at
least 20 seconds.

Remove the dental guard

from the fitting tray. Start by
gently pulling the ends from
each side of the fitting tray,
then working around to the
front. It is normal for the
dental guard to slightly stick
in the fitting tray.

If your dental guard does not fit correctly,

repeat steps 2 and 3 to refit.

Cleaning And Care

After each use, brush your dental guard with toothpaste
andlor mouthwash. Or, clean your guard weekly with a

denture cleansing tablet. Allow tablet to complete fizz

soaking 10-15 minutes. Never rinse or soak in hot water
as it could alter the shape of your dental guard.

Major health problems or serious breathing or respiratory

conditions.
Oral sores, bleeding gums or any gum disease.
Cavities that have no fillings, or loose fitlings or caps.
Difficulty chewing or pain of the jaw, teeth or face.
Twoor more missing teeth.
Stop use and ask a dentist if:
Youdevelop soreness, a change in the appearance of
your gums, bleeding gums or any other reaction inside
your mouth.
You develop jaw pain, teeth pain, ear pain, headache, neck
stiffness, or joint clicking when using this product.

 The same symptoms

persist after over a month of use.

The product disrupts breathing, feels uncomfortable,

causes choking, or causes you to gag.
You have a change in your bite that persists more than a
few minutes after removing the product.
See your dentist every six months.
