SEG Mapping Course

Copper Creek District | Pinal County, AZ, USA
November 3-9, 2013

DESCRIPTION
This SEG professional-level course is designed to acquaint participants with classical methods of exploration field mapping,
utilizing detailed (1:480 scale) mapping to identify and plot geologic features associated with a porphyry environment. The
field area comprises the Copper Creek prospect east of San Manuel, Arizona, currently being drill-tested by Redhawk
Resources (TSX: RDK), allowing participants to review and recognize the alteration signatures associated with surface
exposures representing a well-developed hydrothermal system.
Course registration is limited to fifteen, allowing participants to map in small groups with the field instructors. Mapping will
emphasize identification of lithologic variations, alteration mineral assemblages, veinlet styles and densities, and weatheringrelated oxide minerals. Evening presentations will complement the field work, and group classroom-style assignments will
review the advantages of using geochemistry-related information, including activity diagrams and Eh-pH diagrams, to explain
the minerals observed and their geochemical significance. Participants receive a Certificate of Completion for completing the
field course. The course will be taught in English and Spanish.
