about h/her voice makes them identifiable from all others? (6)
William Faulkner has a unique voice because of his word choice linked
closely to his culture and the culture of the Old South as he knew it.
Faulkners work very closely exposes the diction and vernacular of a
people that did not have a strong presence in literature, which sets him
apart. He does this by creating a constant grammatical flow between
his characters and the culture. Faulkner can control a sentence,
managing to engage, as well as distract.
10. What does Bacon see as the advantages of style as embellishment? In
what situations might this style be engaging to read?
Style as embellishment is advantageous for those who wish to be
generative. It is engaging in any sort of pleasure reading, or for a
specific audience that would appreciate the flowery ingenuity.
11. Why does Bacon say that the only honest answer to what makes a
good sentence is it depends?
Bacon says this because a sentences execution varies depending on
its audience. Academic writing will be structured differently than the
embellished style of a beach read or murder mystery.
