The computer-based MCCEE consists of 180 multiple-choice questions, each listing five possible answers of which only one is the correct or
best answer. The MCCEE questions cover the following domains: Child Health, Maternal Health, Adult Health, Mental Health, and Population
Health and Ethics.
- Comprising a series of clinical stations, the NAC examination presents typical clinical scenarios. The examination may include, but is not
limited to, problems in medicine, pediatrics, obstetrics, gynecology, psychiatry and surgery.
-A passing score on the MCCEE is a requirement to take the NAC OSCE
Return of Service:
An IMG who successfully completes a training position will be required to fulfill a 5-year Return of Service (ROS) contract in an
underserviced community in Ontario. The ROS agreement is signed with the Ontario Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care.
In BC IMG who completes a training position will be required to fulfill a 2 year or 3 year ROS contract depending on whether their
residency is Family medicine or a specialty.
All IMGs participating in the parallel IMG CaRMS match are required to complete a ROS contract.
All IMGs participating in the 2nd iteration of the regular CaRMS match are not subject to a ROS contract
- Approximately 1,500 IMGs apply through CaRMS each year for approximately 200 residency positions in Ontario.
