(On Sunday the 18th of January | attended and spoke at a fundraising event for the Huddersfield PPC, Itrat Ali <= Seseeleft the event during my speech and posted the following on Facebook “Just listened to Sayeeda Warsi speech at Itrat Al's event which turned into a diatribe against Israel and a Pro Hamas speach. Walked out in disgust. Will never speak to her again". This post is a complete lie. The speech was neither a diatribe against Israel nor Pro Hamas. This has been confirmed subsequently by dozens of people who attended the event including Parliamentary candidates, Council candidates, an MP and a Chairman of an association, Despite the overwhelming evidence which shows that ll! avs statement was a lie and my numerous requests for an apology, none has been forthcoming. The matter was made worse by your colleague, Mark Clarke ‘who, on twitter, said the following: (GMiMarkClarke: So @SayeedaWarsi is now slagging off the Jewish Tory Party Chairman of her old seat of Dewsbury ilfsigimeinmm who was offended by her speech".use or woe {t's worth noting that until this moment neither | nor anyone else involved was aware Of fet Sinema 8 religion nor had any reference been made to ethnicity, race or religion. As a result of the above | received a number of abusive messages including accusations of anti-semitism. Dewsbury is a marginal seat, one we need to hold onto in May. Itis also a diverse constituency where the electorate have a broad range of views on issues including the Middle East. In the circumstances, | leave it to your judgement as to whether you feel lurmm is the right person to be Chairman of the Dewsbury Association. The incident has left many who attended the event, potential donors to the Conservative Party, and others who have followed the subsequent fallout, shocked and disappointed. The event, unusually for a Conservative Party event, was attended by a large number of individuals from the BME community, and at a time when the Conservative Party is supposed to be reaching out to such communities, has left ‘many feeling alienated and concerned about the way in which office bearers within the Conservative Party conduct themselves. | look forward to hearing from you as to what action you intend to take against both ‘St Reterand Mr Clarke.
