What the App does

It connects hospitals with donors in times of emergency. Donors download the

app and can be contacted according to certain principles:
Registration Screen
Enter Blood Group
Date Last Donated
Age and Name are optional
How the requests are sent out
1) Blood Group
2) Last donated : no call earlier than 4 months (account for anemia)
3) Location (closest to hospital this should be done via GPS location
services in a given mobile phone or by an option allowing preferential
alerts from a given hospital)
4) Numbers (How many pints are needed determines how large the call
should be and to what area it should extend to)
5) Attrition: we need to prevent people getting alerts all the time and
deleting the app. So an algorithm should predict when to send an alert
again (say weekly basis once we hit large numbers)
Platforms
Android, Apple and simple mobile phones
Account for the fact that only half the users will have internet access throughout
the city. So SMS integration is needed.
Users should be able to register either at the hospital or by SMS if they dont
have internet capabilities and should be able to get SMS alerts if a connected
app isnt seen.
Cloud Computing
A database needs to exist to which alerts can be sent out. The database can be
hidden from Hospital admin, but should be able to accept new registrations (i.e.
SMS based reg or reg at the donation desk so manual input). The database
should also be able to keep statistical track of the impact of the project so how
many alerts sent out, from which hospital, to which geolocations and how many
responded, how many were turned away. There should also be the ability to
delete users from the database so for example someone has Hep B, they cant
ever donate again so they should be removed. The database should then send
analytical reports to us.
Rewards system and other tabs
On donating blood, a key is given to the donor which they can use to unlock
rewards.
Other tabs should include blood bank drives being to advertise their campaigns
but the alerts for this can be turned on or of

Where we are so far

There is a back and front end for an android app but it is crude and lacks SMS
integration, location services, etc. It is also sufering from the lack of a
modifiable database.

What we need
A programmer to build the iPhone app
A Programmer to work on the database which is fluid between platforms
A programmer to improve the Android app

Timetable
About 2 weeks. We are competing against the best uni in Pakistan to come up
with an app. The uni in question is no joke when it comes to apps as they
have churned out successful ones in the past with a very limited time
frame.
Scope
We have two of the biggest hospitals partnered in Pakistan. We have interest
expressed by NHS East, St. Johns Innovation Centre and a company in
Silicon Valley. This could potentially grow to be big and just requires an
initial investment of time.
