Brianna Varela


I am pleased to write this recommendation for Brianna Varela. I have served as her
student teaching supervisor for Drake University during the first half of her student
teaching experience. Brianna was placed at Cowles Elementary School, a Montessori
School in the Des Moines Public School system.

Brianna quickly learned about her placement and worked hard to develop a strong
working relationship with her mentor teacher. Brianna worked equally hard to
learn about the students in her classroom and learned all of their names within a
couple of days after school started in August. She consistently demonstrated her
willingness to work and learn how to become the best teacher her students could
have.

Ms. Varelas lessons were always well prepared. She considered the various abilities
of her students and made plans to provide a high probability of success for each of
her students.

Her caring manner with both staff and students was evident from the beginning
through her last day at Cowles. She sincerely wants to learn as much about her
students and her school as is possible, so she can help students be successful.

Her classroom management has shown significant growth in the time she was at
Cowles. She has learned that a group of students requires a lot of attention from the
time they enter the room in the morning until they leave for home in the afternoon.

I sincerely believe that Brianna Varela will be an asset to the school in which she
teaches. I highly recommend her for any position for which she is certified to teach.
She will be a loyal staff member who will do what is possible to make her school the
best place for students.
