Proposal for recycling campaign for Kolej Kediaman Siswa Jaya

Recycling is an effort done to overcome problems regarding solid waste

management as this problem is getting harder to apprehend. This is due to
people being irresponsible and litters all over the place albeit the availability of
facilities that have been provided by the college committee. Thus a more
effective approach to recycling must be introduced to make recycling more
efficient in Kolej Siswa Jaya residential college. Below are the common solid
waste and suggestions to recycle them.

One way to kick-start this is by enforcing one day without

plastic bag, not only does this reduce its usage, it also helps
in reducing littering of plastic bags itself. Proper management
of plastic bags waste is vital as improper ones could lead to
death and serious problem to the nature.

Recycling plastic bottles is very easy and can be fun as well.

The first thing is that plastic bottles could be recycled for arts
and crafts purposes. Besides that, plastic bottles could be
useful as a tool in life hacks. Another initiative is to send them
to recycling centres.

Electronics are sometimes discarded although some may still

function just as well. Reusable electronics can be passed on
and donated for charity purposes. Electronics that are not so
good in condition could be refurbished and repaired or
repurposed for other uses. Just make sure to remove every bit
of your personal data before proceeding.

Another initiative to make this recycling campaign possible is by making it easy

for people to actually participate in this campaign. Make sure recycling bins are
easy to be found so that people can discard recyclable goods according to their
categories and not just dump the whole waste into a general trash can. Make
sure the recycling bin is labelled clearly to avoid mixing of waste. Besides that ,
the availability of recycling bins should be increased to easen the process.
Furthermore, the awareness for people to recycle must be spread accordingly to

so that the recycling campaign is supported by the students to be successful. In

some cases rewarding people that recycle can also help to make the campaign a
success.
Besides the four major waste found at college, some other initiative that can be
done is by separating waste according their reusability which are reusable and
non-reusable waste. By doing this, we can manage waste more efficiently and
also avoid .. Reusable waste such as aluminium cans can be repurposed or
recycled according to the needs of the time. Non-reusable waste should be
categorised to decomposable and non-decomposable waste. Decomposable
waste can be collected and later turned into soil enhancer or even help students
in their studies later on. Non-decomposable waste on the other hand can be later
sent for proper disposal at incinerators or landfills. In a nutshell, separating
waste according to their categories helps in making solid waste management
easier to implement.

To sum it all up, recycling is a good initiative in order to properly manage waste
in the college area. Not only will it make the college a more sustainable place, it
can also help in maintaining a good overall look of the college area itself.
Recycling also has its benefits such as we can gain money by selling recyclable
items and such. Therefore , let us support the recycling campaign for a more
sustainable college.
