Would You Like to Know Who is The Real

Hero of The National Health Story?

91-11-41213100

Ever wondered where India

stands at the health scenario?
Well, statistically speaking,
21% of the global child deaths
are from India. That is not only
a considerable, but a worrying
amount. Besides that, we also
have high new-born mortality
rates and other population
parameters of health do not
look so good either.

The matter of concern is the

fact that most of the diseases
that cause the deaths are
vaccine-preventable diseases
and can be easily prevented or
delayed; which is why, the
Ministry of Health and family
welfare (MoHFW) of the
government of India has
joined hands with the Bill and
Melinda Gates foundation,
along with others to set up the
Immunization technical
support unit, or ITSU.

The Main Aim of Doing So Is

Providing institutional guidance and

information
about
the
vaccinepreventable diseases, and controlling
them by raising awareness in the
countryside, as much as in the metropolis.

Hiring individuals enthusiastic to work in

the public health sector, hence raising
employment opportunities.

Building up the public health sector. The

Ministry of health and Family welfare
(MoHFW) focuses on not only helping the
existing healthcare available the in the
country, but also funds and promotes
more studies and research in the public
heath sector, hence, building up a better
understood health scenario.

The Ministry of health and family welfare

(MoHFW) has, among other policies and
guidelines, being specifically acknowledged
for Indradhanush, a program specifically
aimed at immunizing all the children of the
country. Mission Indradhanush will target all
children under the age of two years and
pregnant women with all available vaccines.
The Mission is a strategic intervention that
will ensure full immunization coverage in the
country and strengthen the health system.

The main focus is not only on immunizing the

children, but to develop a healthier, more
aware India, where everyone can be safe
from the Vaccine-preventable diseases.
Vaccination can reduce the health and
economic burden of diseases such as
measles, mumps, rubella, diphtheria, tetanus
and whooping cough. It can also turn out to
be lifesaving in many cases by preventing
hepatitis B, cervical cancer and reducing the
severity of pneumonia in the elderly.

The Ministry of health

and family welfare also
develops
various
guidelines for the use,
and disposal of vaccines
that the government
provides to the state and
district level governing
bodies to maintain a
check on their proper use
and ensure the proper
execution of their main
aim.
