Christmas, a time
of reflection for
us all
Message from Mr Kirit Prabhudas Patel,
Chairman and CEO of Motibhai Group
It is this time of the year
that we all start preparing for
the BIG DAY!
As many of our Hindi
speaking brothers and sisters would say, Bada Din
- which commonly refers to
Christmas one of the most
sacred and auspicious occasions in the Christian calendar marking the birth of
Lord Jesus Christ.
Fiji is indeed a blessed
nation and it is our common
understanding and tolerance
for each other, different religions and a great sense of integration which sets us apart
from the rest of the world.
Indeed when the late Pope
John Paul during his visit to
our beautiful nation in the
80s said, Fiji the way the
world should be, it is some-

thing which came from his

heart and that phrase continues to inspire all Fijians for
now and definitely for the
future.
Our beautiful nation with
its rich fabric of society has
many celebrations in different quarters of the year and
it is now time to prepare ourselves for Christmas.
Christmas
meaning
Christs Mass is an annual festival commemorating the birth of Jesus Christ
observed on December 25
as a religious and cultural
celebration among billions
of people around the world
and Fiji being a small island nation is definitely no
exception. While Fiji is predominantly populated by
followers of Christian faith,

for many decades, people of

other religious backgrounds
have been celebrating this
auspicious occasion in their
own way with families and
friends uniting after days
and sometimes even months
of being away from each
other.
God has blessed Fiji with
everything one needs to live
and prosper. Our gardens are
full of healthy tropical fruits
and vegetables, likewise our
rivers full of water. We have
the best weather any other
country may ever dream of.
Despite having all these
natural luxuries of life, we
often forget to note and act
upon the true meaning of
celebrating such auspicious
occasions.
In other words, we seem

to have taken Gods gifts to

us for granted, often misusing the natural treasure our
nation possesses, wasting
our food and drinks to the
extent that might look totally wrong to those living in
countries facing famine.
Lord Jesus Christ has
shown us a path of light and
glory. He has shown us that

simplicity and basic things

in life are the best things to
hold onto.
He has also shown us that
life is not meant to be easy.
In fact, all prophets have
also endured great hardships
and struggles for the benefit
of mankind.
I have a very simple message for us all this Christmas

lets stop taking things for

granted and enjoy life in a
humble manner.
Be humble and never
think that you are better than
anyone else. For dust you
are; and unto dust you shall
return. GENESIS 3.19.
May you all have a very
joyous Christmas and a
prosperous new year!

Work on Motibhai
Business Park starts

Work on the development of a multi-million-dollar commercial complex is set to go full speed following the ground
breaking ceremony on Friday, November 27.
Known as the Motibhai Business Park, the new complex
which will cover an area of 13,000 square metres will enable
Motibhai Group to position itself for future operations.
The entire project which is being looked after by Executive Director Mr Bhupendra Patel will enable the Group to
centralize all its western division operations under one roof.
The new business park will be a one-stop-shop for us,
said Mr Patel.
At the moment our warehouses are scattered all over the
place from Ba up to Nadi and the new complex will have
a centralized operation to make day-to-day business much
smoother and efficient for us, he added.
Mr Patel said once complete, the new complex will also
have a full scale joinery workshop, refrigeration workshop
together with cold storage facilities to cater for Burger King
Fiji operations.
We will also move our corporate head-office to the new
premises, Mr Patel informed.
With a massive budget of $25 million, the gigantic complex will take close to a year to complete and is being built
by Western Builders Limited.
Conveniently located at West Road in Legalega Subdivision along the Queens Highway, the Motibhai Business Park
is all set to become a major landmark in the entire western
division upon completion.

Project foreman Bishwa Gounder, left, goes through the plans with Mohammed Sharif. INSET: The project as seen from the

Suli joins Prouds

Suliasi Rabuto Koroiwaca better known as Suli to many is no stranger to the people of Nadi and maybe Fiji at large.
He is the same man who recently hit the headlines for his unique skills of directing traffic at the Denarau Island
bridge while it was under repair and later at the Nadi International Airport junction while works on the new fourlane road was in progress.
People enjoyed his nice gestures and a never say die attitude during his days as a roadside worker.
His friendliness and people skills has enabled Suli to make many friends along the way.
Originally from Nakini Village in Naitasiri, Suli attained his primary education from Nakini Village School and attended Baulevu High School for his secondary education.
In 1999 Suli made his way to Nadi which is undoubtedly the fastest growing township in the entire pacific region
and the tourism capital of Fiji.
After cutting cane for six-months, Suli joined a security company as a guard and worked hard for a good fourteenyears before joining Higgins for almost a year.
Married with one daughter who attends Ratu Navula College, Suli said he is grateful to be given a chance by Prouds
Fijis leading travel and duty free retailer to be part of their team.
Suli who currently resides in Navoci Village just before Nadi Town from the airport end says good things come to
those who wait and he is very fortunate to become a part of Fijis booming tourism industry through his new
role as a Meet and Greet staff at the newly opened world-class Prouds store at the international departures area.
I am very happy with my new job. The staff here are so friendly and its a big transformation for me personally

I wish to thank God for giving me this opportunity in life. I also wish to thank all the friends I made while working
on the road side. Many of them used to stop and offer me drinks and even food.
I am also happy with the manner in which the new four-lane road from airport to Votualevu junction has turned out
so I guess it was time for me to move on in life.
To all my friends and their family, if you are coming over to this side of the airport, do come to Prouds you will
not be disappointed, Suli concluded.

Unilever
conference
a success
By ABRAHAM GOMES
Motibhai Group Marketing & Business Development Manager
Since 2012 Unilever International has been hosting a business conference every year and this years event was the fourth consecutive one.
Held during the months November and December, the conference is well
attended by all Unilever distributors (business partners) from the pacific
island countries who are invited for this conference which is held at the
Unilever International Training / Conference Centre in Singapore.
This year the conference and workshop sessions were held from November 16 20.
While the total journey time from Nadi to Singapore is around 16-hours
via Sydney, Australia including transit, the four-day event is full of glamour and an opportune time to mingle around with fellow distributors from
other countries and share ideas as well.
This year there were 17 distributors (business partners) who attended
the conference from the pacific islands.
In total there were around 40 to 45 delegates without including the twenty Unilever members who were basically our hosts for the event.
In the conference the President / Vice President / Business Development
Directors and Managers / Category (Brand) Managers / Marketing Directors and Managers were present and the sessions were conducted by them
as well.
Also, when it came to different workshop sessions those distributors
who were involved in those categories were to attend them.
This conference is an avenue to meet once again the whole team from
Unilever and to have one to one interaction with all their executives.
Also, this venue is where we get an opportunity to hear about new product development / introductions and also various marketing initiatives being planned.
The climax of the conference is when both the distributors and the Unilever team sign off the targets and Asia-Pacific spends for the following
year.
