Weather and Climate Project Essay

Greenhouse Effect
There are many different processes and events that have to do weather.
However, one of them is extremely fascinating. This process is called greenhouse
effect. This essay will explain what it is and how it affects the various climates
throughout the world. It will also have many details and pictures to add some
information to it.
Greenhouse effect is the process where water vapor, carbon dioxide, ozone
and methane, also known greenhouse gases, absorbs radiation and traps it.
However, some of the radiation escapes slowly, going in all directions. This
radiation comes from the Suns rays that go to Earth. Thirty percent of the radiation

is deflected back into space, and the rest is beamed to the surface and reflects back
to the atmosphere as a slow-moving mass. This type of radiation is called infrared
radiation. The greenhouse effect is extremely important to the world because
without it, Earth would be fifty-four degrees Fahrenheit (thats thirty degrees
Celsius) colder than what it is now. No organism can survive in a world with
temperatures below zero all the time.
Greenhouse effect may be important, but it can also affect the many different
climates around the world. In some places, there has been more carbon dioxide and
heating in the air in some parts. This is occurring because of the human activities
that deals with fossil fuels have been letting off carbon dioxide and other
greenhouse gases into the air, interfering with the greenhouse effect. When this
extra carbon dioxide absorbs additional infrared radiation, produces net heating,
also known as enhanced greenhouse effect. This is another reason why global
warming is happening. The climates will soon get warmer and dryer than ever.
Plants and animals will soon die in the tropical rainforest climate due to major
droughts. The desert climate will be more scorched and really hot. The ice cap
climate will soon become too warm and melt away the glaciers at the north and
south pole. There will be disaster everywhere. However, this will happen in
hundreds or even thousands of years. This is just the beginning of it.

To prevent enhanced greenhouse effect, people need stop using machines or

anything that uses fossil fuels and use renewable fuels such as ethanol. Instead of
bringing your car to everyplace you go, whether it is a short distance or long
distance, just walk to somewhere that has a short distance away from your house.
Also recycling trash and reusing them as regular objects would be good instead of
putting the trash in the dump. There are many other ways to prevent global
warming and enhanced greenhouse effect and the more you do this, the safer Earth
and its climates will become.
In conclusion, greenhouse effect is an important process that can either be
good or be bad and change climates. Greenhouse effect comes from greenhouse
gases that absorb and trap infrared radiation. Due to the increasing of using
machines that use fossil fuels, carbon dioxide and other gases will interfere with
greenhouse effect and absorb more radiation, causing more heating in some
climates. If we want to prevent this from happening, we should recycle, use
renewable energy, or start walking to short distance places instead of driving your
car to everywhere. Greenhouse effect is important to climate and without it, we
would not survive.
