US20050038304A1: Integrating a methanol to olefin reaction system with a steam cracking

system

PUB. DATE: Feb. 17, 2005

KEY OF INVENTION
-

Steam cracking system

Integrated system for producing ethylene and propylene from an oxygenate to olefin
(OTO) reaction system and a steam cracking system
oxygenate to olefin (OTO) reaction process

STRONG POINT
-

increasing ethylene and propylene capacity whereas the same amount of undesirable
product comparing with conventional steam cracking process (fast pyrolysis)
This process can reduce the amount of air pollutants produced per pound of ethylene
and propylene in a steam cracking system.

BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION

Methanol is a particularly preferred oxygenate for the synthesis of ethylene and/or propylene. An
oxygenate contacts a molecular sieve catalyst composition under the conditions effective to
convert at least a portion of oxygenate to light olefins.
