The United States of America was founded, and built to power by immigrants from
Europe, all in search for freedom, and a better life. Throughout just a few centuries, millions of
people now inhabit this country, most of foreign relation. Still, individuals and even families
comet to this country for the same reason as the New Worlds first settlers.
In 2012, a measured 40.7 million foreign-born people were part of American population.
Just only in 1960, a majority of the population of immigrants (75%) were of European descent.
In about just half a century, the numbers have turned. Along with it, America proceeded as a
power house in the world, in almost every aspect. The opportunities of being a politically free
and accepting country are endless. The world is aware of this, which is the reason why such a
large population immigrate here. Of this population, 11.6 million were Mexicans. In modern
times, Mexicans go through a tough and dangerous life in their native country. Crime is at an
exponential rate, with 47,500 people have been killed in drug related crimes. As well, the climate
is rough. Natural hazards pose a continuous threat, and water shortages occasionally occur. More
importantly, 47% of Mexicos population lives under the poverty line, about 5% of Mexico being
unemployed. Regardless of these push factors, parts of American society, and more especially
politicians, view Mexican immigrants as a threat to society. The biggest claim, is that these
immigrants are causing harm to the American economy, taking up their jobs. Mexican

Immigrants face constant harassment, usually including an aim towards racism, by the people,
and high political figures. These immigrants live a dangerous, and tough life, in search for a
better one, and that struggle isnt taken into perspective.
Donald Trump announcing his 2016 campaign, When Mexico sends its people, theyre
not sending their best. Theyre sending people that have lots of problems. Theyre bringing
drugs. Theyre bringing crime. Theyre rapists.
Donald Trump believes that foreign workers are to blame for declining labor force
participation, unemployment and stagnation. Trump wants to limit, or eliminate all programs that
admit foreign born. People view Mexicans the same way trump does, and this is why racism is
critically bad for Mexicans. Today, Mexican workers pay sales taxes and work for substandard
wages. The typical illegal Mexican immigrant is an honest worker struggling for a better life for
himself and his family, not a violent criminal. The Southwest and California built in large part by
undocumented Mexican immigrants. There was a time when Mexican migrant workers passed
freely over the border each season to labor in the Southwest. In that time, Mexicans were an
important and welcomed source of cheap labor. At the end of the season, the laborers would
return to Mexico. The border was always open for their return, so they had no particular reason
to remain in California. Now, its illegal for Mexicans to come to work in America, leaving poor
Mexican immigrants to make sacrifices for their families.
Immigrants come to America for a better life, due to increasing poverty in their home
country. Most believe life is better in the United States. Close to six-in-ten (57%) Mexicans say
who move from Mexico enjoy a better life in the U.S. Many immigrants believe that that United

States was "the land of opportunity, a place to find a successful job. The trip to the United States
was long and very dangerous. For the men who entered the country illegally, the trip could even
be deadly. For the men who did have some money, they would hire a "coyote, a man who would
help them cross the border for a price. Sometimes coyotes were legitimate people who were paid
to help others, while sometimes these were men who were simply out to take advantage.
Mexicans wouldnt sacrifice their lives for just anything, they come for an astonishing life style.
Mexicans feel as like American is where dreams come true, a place where they could seek
opportunity where their country couldnt provide. If anything, the united States need to step in
and help Mexico with some situations. For instance, tons of people are killed every day because
of drug wars that happening across the border. America and Mexico need come together and stop
major contributions. Drug crime is so high in Mexico because there is poor enforcement to the
law in Mexico, which allows real criminals to get away with breaking the law.
Immigrants are the reason for why America is what it is today. Mexicans are no different
than the New Worlds first settlers, both looking for opportunity and freedom. They help further
the advancement of the American economy, just like other citizens. What will further
assimilation with these people result in for the future of America?
