Hardware Description
By default, the primary cabinet is positioned on the left, and the secondary cabinet is
positioned on the right. If restricted by the actual situation in the equipment room, the
primary cabinet can be positioned on the right.
The BTS3900 (-48 V DC) cabinet, BTS3900 (+24 V DC) cabinet, and BTS3900 (AC)
cabinet support side-by-side installation mode.
NOTE
The primary cabinet is the cabinet that is configured with the BBU.

NOTE
When two UPEUs are configured in the BBU, the other UPEU is configured in Slot18. The pin assignments
for the wires connected to the monitoring ports on this UPEU are the same as those for the wires connected
to the monitoring ports on the UEIU.
The EMU and EMUA are used for environment monitoring indoors and outdoors respectively.
The EMU and EMUA enable the monitoring of analog values and Boolean signals with the port
for monitoring analog inputs, port for detecting the Boolean inputs, and port for controlling the
external Boolean outputs.
3-16
When the base station is deployed indoors, the EMU is configured for monitoring the analog
values and Boolean signals. For details about the monitoring ports on the EMU, see
HUAWEI QCKG1EMU User Guide.
When the base station is deployed outdoors, the EMUA is configured for monitoring the
analog values and Boolean signals. For details about the monitoring ports on the EMUA,
see EMUA User Guide.

If backup power is required for the BBU, two UPEUs are configured instead of UPEU+UEIU.
If the BTS3900 is configured with three cabinets, a UEIU is configured for monitoring the RS485
signals. Therefore, another UEIU is not required for monitoring the dry contact alarms.

Functions
The functions of the WRFU are as follows:
l
Implements the direct frequency conversion technique in the transmit channel. The
baseband signals are modulated to WCDMA RF signals. After being filtered and amplified
or being combined, the RF signals are transmitted through the duplex filter to the antenna
for radio transmission.
Receives UL RF signals from the antenna system and then down-converts the received
signals to IF signals. After amplification, analog-to-digital conversion, digital downconversion, matched filtering, automatic gain control (AGC), the IF signals are sent to the
BBU for further processing.
Implements power control and Voltage Standing Wave Ratio (VSWR) detection
Generates the CPRI clock, recovers the CPRI clock from loss of synchronization, and
detects alarms
