A disturbing truth: Let the numbers speak


o U.S. students rank 25th in math performance, compared to the
world.
o Only 8% of students in low-income areas graduate from college
by age 24.
o In 2004, African-American students scored an average of 28
points LOWER on Math Standardized tests than their white
peers.
o Although women make up half our population, only 13% of
high school girls plan to pursue careers in the STEM field.
o Women hold only 24% of these types of math & science
positions.
