CESSANA 152 GROUND RUN CHECKLIST

ITEMS OFINSPECTION /CHECKLIST

Position the aircraft to head into the prevailing wind to


ensure adequate airflow over the engine for cooling
purposes.

Take the fuel sample form the fuel tanks (each wing
contaiks a fuel point, located underside of wing and
from the fuel strainer )

Check the fuel sample for any sedimentation or


discoloration with aquadis paste.

Check the fuel quantity in the fuel tanks, if it is


necessary; fill it up to correct level.

Various covers (fuel vents, pitot-static )protecting the


aircraft must be removed before starting Engine.

Ensure that chocks should be positioned on each main


landing gears.

Checks the brake master cylinder for proper hydraulic


fluid, if there is no pressure in BMC, fill it with the correct
fluid.

Install the cowling properly and check all the fastners


securing the cowling by tapping them gently.

During any and all starting procedures, a fireguard


equipped with co2 fire extinguisher should be
poistioned at the bottom of the right wing tip, in view of
the person on board the aircraft and also where he or
she can observe the Engine for indication of starting
Problems /any fire .

Check the tire pressure ,with the help of tire pressure


gauge, and prevent the tire from under inflation or over
inflation.

Check for proper tire pressure and for creep or slippage


mark located at the tire and wheel.

Check the torquue-link for its proper attachement and


check the locking for cotter pins

Check the shimmy dampener for leakage and its


mountng bolt for locking of cotter pins.

Check the Nose oleo stuts for any dents or damage.

If any dirt or dust in oleo strut clean it with a clean cloth


and then apply a thin film of hydraulic oil around it .

Check oleo strut for proper inflation .


(it should be between 3.69 inch to 4.17 inches)

CHECK THE PROPELLER FOR--

i)

Spinner for any dents or scratches.

ii)

Propeller blades for its proper dress up.

iii)

Propeller blades for any nicks, dents or damage.

iv)

Clean the propeller blades properly.

CHECK THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT FOR --

i)

Remove the engine cowling completely (Top, Bottom &


Nose cowling ).

ii)

Check the Engine compartment for lekage of fuel and oil


lines or hoses.

iii)

Check the oil sump for proper grade of oil by the


dipstick.
Minimum oil for flight-4Qtz.
Do not operate an Engine with less then 4 Quart
(minimum for flight ) oil in the sump
Normal operation (flight of less then 3 hours )- 5Qtz.
Total capacity of oil sump-6Qtz.
Total capacity of oil sump with oil filter installed -7 Qtz.

iv)

Check the condition of oil cooler. It should not be


blocked.

v)

Check the Engine exhaust pipes for proper


attachments.

vi)

Check the condition of tail pipe, it should not be


blocked .

vii)

Check the muffler and shroud assembly for proper


attachments.
