Brochure
Description:

Two sided (gate fold) advertising brochure

Date:

12/5/15

Course/ Instructor:
Comm 130 Section 3
Brother Pingel

Program(s)/ Tools:

Adobe InDesign, Adobe Photoshop

Objectives:

Create a brochure for a new clothing company that makes winter

clothing for those in the area.

Process:

I used InDesign for my gate fold brochure. I set up two pages

back to back and set up lines that were measured previously
to know how far over each fold will be. I then used Photoshop
to use the center cut out picture of the guy to get him and
not the background by using the selection tool. I got him then
back into InDesign and put him over the background picture.
I also put a text wrap on the picture so that the text would go
around the snowboarder smoothly. The text was blending into
the background before so I put transparrent boxes behind it
so you could read the text better. I used the feathering tool as
well for each box so it woul blend better with the picture in the
background.

Business Card
Discription:

Business Card for new company with new logo.

Date:

11/7/15

Course/ Instructor:
Comm 130 Section 3
Brother Pingel

Program(s)/ Tools:
Adobe Illustrator

Objectives:

Design a new logo for company and create business cards for them.

Process:

I designed the Logo in Adobe Illustrator. I decided to just use the

name of the company as their logo. I just emphasised the X in
both words in the title of the company. I really wanted to add a little
bit of color but not too much because I liked the black font I used. I
decided to use the color red because it really popped in the design
of the logo. I liked the X so much that I used it for the business
card instead of using the name of the company on the front and
back so that way it could show a little more contrast in the design of
the business card. I used a few text boxes to make the X appear
to connect both words of the companys name. I wanted the word
products to be a little bit different so I changed the font style on that.

Letterhead
Description:

A letterhead for a business with a new logo.

Course/ Instructor:

Program(s)/ Tools:
Adobe Illustrator

Objectives:

To design a letterhead for a new company with new logo to use.

Process:

I designed the Logo in Adobe Illustrator. I decided to just use the

name of the company as their logo. I just emphasised the X in both
words in the title of the company. I really wanted to add a little bit of
color but not too much because I liked the black font I used. I decided
to use the color red because it really popped in the design of the
logo. I also decided to use the X in a really light gray color in the
background of the letterhead so that it could kind of resemble the
company name. I wanted the word products to be a little bit different
so I changed the font style on that.

Montage
Description:

A spiritual montage that was made by blending two images together

and using a quote and working with typography.

Date:

10/24/15

Course/ Instructor:
Comm 130 Section 3
Brother Pingel

Program(s)/ Tools:
Adobe Photoshop

Objectives:

Design a spiritual message about the sacrifice the military does for
our country.

Process:

I first pulled an image of an American flag and the military picture

online. I then first placed the flag on the bottom and then the military
one on top. I used the masking tool to put one on top of the other
and then used the brush tool to make the behind image appear with
only 30% opacity to make it look very soft and well blended so you
could see both images together. I added a quote from a scripture to
show a spiritual take to the picture. I used different fonts to make it
look more appealing to the eye. I used a different font for the word I
wanted to emphisize more.

Flier
Description:

A black and white flier to advertise that there is a graduate leadership

conference for graduates.

Date:

10/3/15

Course/ Instructor:
Comm 130 Section 3
Brother Pingel

Program(s)/ Tools:
Adobe InDesign

Objectives:

Design a flier to inform graduates about an upcoming conference.

Process:

I created this design first by sketching out my ideas and brainstorming

on what design I wanted to go with. I ended up chooseing this design
because I really liked the split look with the body copy and the
picture. I designed it in Adobe InDesign and used the triangle look for
the repetition and rhythm on my page. I also used the same font from
the title with the date, time, and place to show a form of repetition. I
wanted to emphasize more on the Leadership Conference so I made
that my focal point on the title. I also wanted a good flow with my
flier so I made the picture big so that it would draw the audience to
that and then the way it was set up is that they would look to the title
next and then follow it around to get to the body copy. I also worked
with the white space and made sure I didnt have too much and didnt
use up all the space given for the body copy.

Event Ad
Description:

An event ad made from using Microsoft Word on a full bleed page.

Date:

10/10/15

Course/ Instructor:
Comm 130 Section 3
Brother Pingel

Program(s)/ Tools:
Microsoft Word

Objectives:

Creating an event ad to let the community know about the coat drive
and how they can donate to the homeless shelters.

Process:

I first scanned my image onto the computer opening in Microsoft

Word. I made a color box on the opposite side. I pulled the color from
the hat on the person in the image and then pulled up the color wheel
to grab contrasting colors. I left some space next to the title to show
my negative space.

Logos
Description:

A new logo for a new company to use.

Date:

Course/ Instructor:
Comm 130 Section 3
Brother Pingel

Program(s)/ Tools:
Adobe Illustrator

Objectives:

To create and design a new logo for a new company.

Process:

I first chose a company that I know is fairly new so that I could

possibly help design the logo. I made sketches of what I really wanted
it to look like and what kind of things I wanted to add into the design.
I really liked the lightning bolt for the design so I tried to incorporate
the bolt into the company name. I used the pen tool in Illustrator and
designed a few bolts until I found one I liked. I made that into the
O of the name of the company. I also messed with some fonts and I
really liked the font I used as well.

Imaging
Description:

Showing good photography and editing skills.Using different colors

from photo and incorporated into a poster design.

Date:

10/17/15

Course/ Instructor:
Comm 130 Section 3
Brother Pingel

Program(s)/ Tools:
Adobe Photoshop

Objectives:

To show my creative side with photography with an inspiring quote

about how photography affects our lives.

Process:

I first looked for a good color scheme that I liked from the color wheel
and decided to use the split complimentary colors. I then went out
and tooka picture of one of my friends who had the color I wanted
to use and then used the background colors to go along with my
subject. I then edited it in photoshop to bring the colors more to
life in the picture. Pulling out the colors from the main photo, I used
them for the background of my poster and incorporated them into
the design. I used the color from my photo to also make the color
swatches. I really loved puling out the colors from the photo and
using them to fill the shapes I used for the design.

Web Page
Description:

A web page to show a company business logo and the product

picture.

Date:

Course/ Instructor:
Comm 130 Section 3
Brother Pingel

Program(s)/ Tools:

Adobe Photoshop and Notepad++

Objectives:

A resource to know more about the company and those who want to
purchase tools for building.

Process:

I was able to create this web page through Notepad++. It was

very easy to work with but just trying to understand how to code
everything and put it all in the right place was a little harder than
I thought it would be. I used a pre-made CSS file from an activity
before, and attatched it to my html file. I took my logo and used
the colors from there by opening Photoshop and getting the color
number with the eyedropper tool. I incorporated the color from the
logo on the color of the border. I also used a photo of the product
and used that as the background to show a picture sample of what
kind of products this company has to offer. I also used a Div to help
center my logo and it turned out well.
