1.She saw Hareton outside; he didn't recognize his nurse, threw a rock at her
and cursed. She found that his father had taught him how to curse, and that he
liked Heathcliff because he wouldn't let his father curse him, and let him do
what he liked. Nelly shouldnt have left because Hareton has spiraled into the
violence like his father and foster uncle.
2. Nelly may seem to be rather unfeeling in her unsympathetic descriptions of
Catherine and Heathcliff, but her behavior to Hareton and Hindley who was
her foster-brother reveals her to be extremely tender-hearted and maternal at
time. She is, however, independent and spirited, and doesn't like to be imposed
on or bullied by Catherine, so she has no qualms about siding with Edgar
when her mistress is being temperamental.
3. " Well, if I cannot keep Heathcliff for my friend if Edgar will be mean and
jealous, I'll try to break their hearts by breaking my own." Catherine willing to
destroy her relationship with her husband for the sake of Heathcliff. She had a
temper tantrum, ending with a faked "fit of frenzy." When Nelly revealed that
the fit was faked, she ran to her room and refused to come out or to eat for
several days.
4.
a) Linton wasnt frantic about Catherines situation he sat in his library.
b) Heathcliff isnt fretting over Catherine situation he is to busy trying to break
ties with Edgars sister

c) Nellie was concerned for young mistress she watch as when into a delusional
state She genuinely cares for Catherine.
5.

a) She severs her relationship with Catherine by eloping with Heathcliff even
after she warned that he wouldnt be interested in her love : Heathcliff
would crush Isabella "like a sparrow's egg," he is "an arid wilderness of furze
and whinstone."

B).

Ellen found that Isabella had indeed disappeared, and a little boy told her he
had seen the girl riding away with Heathcliff. Ellen told Edgar, hoping he would
rescue his sister from her ill-considered elopement, but he coldly refused to do so.
Edgar's coldness to Isabella seems to result from pique at having his sister desert
him for his greatest enemy. His willingness to abandon her because of hurt pride is
perhaps his greatest moral flaw. The emphasis he places on personal dignity
differentiates him from the other characters, who certainly have many faults,
though not that one
i.

She was miserable and regretted her marriage heartily. Her envy upon
seeing Hindley's pistol is a little disconcerting, and she herself is horrified by
the realization of it. It is worth noting the unfortunate position of women
who depend on men: Isabella cannot escape from Heathcliff without the help
of her brother, who does not want to help her. Surrounded by hatred and
indifference, she can only fall back on Ellen's pity.

6. Heathcliff says that Isabella was actually attracted by his brutality until she
herself suffered from it. Heathcliff despises her because she, knowing what he is,
loves him. and he expressed his scorn and hatred for her in her presence, of course.
He said she knew what he was when she married him: she had seen him hanging
her pet dog.

7. Alone with her, he told her that if she did not arrange an interview for him with
Catherine, he would force his way in armed, and she agreed to give Catherine a
letter from him.

ii.

Isabella, use verbal taunts to hurt their enemies emotionally. Isabella still
holds her gentile nature close to her heart. She rather give taunts to
Heathcliff instead of engaging in Violence since she is a weak character "If
I were you, I'd go stretch myself over her grave, and die like a faithful dog...
The world is not worth living in now, is it?" Isabella said this instead of
letting him in

8.
A) Heathcliff - Heathcliff and found him leaning motionless against an ash tree He
cursed Catherine and begged her to haunt him so he would not be left in "this
abyss, where I cannot find you!... I cannot live without my soul!" He dashed his
head against the tree and howled "like a savage beast getting goaded to death with
knives and spears." Heathcliff took advantage of Edgar's short absence from the
chamber of death to see her again, and to replace Edgar's hair in her locket with
some of his own. Even after her burial He hadn't eaten for days, and spent his time
at Wuthering Heights in his room, "praying like a methodist; only the deity he
implored was senseless dust and ashes."

B) Edgar- Edgar grew resigned to Catherine's death, and loved his daughter, who
he called Cathy, very much.

c) Hindley feel deeper into depravity due to his sister death. That even tries to kill
Heathcliff out of hate.

9. Hindley died, "drunk as a lord," about six months after Catherine. He was just
twenty seven .Ellen grieved deeply for him they had been the same age and were
brought up together. She made sure he was decently buried. Ellen's mother was

Hindley's wet-nurse, so they literally shared mother's milk under somewhat

fraternal conditions.

10. Heathcliffe and Hareton were both victims of Hindleys abuse. Heathcliffe was
empathic with Hindley he wouldnt let his father curse him and let him do what he
liked

11. Heathcliff now had ownership of Wuthering heights. Hindley mortgaged the
land to Heathcliff in exchange for his debt .

12. Hindley proved to be weaker than Edger to loss of his wife. Since he didnt
know another love. Hindley only had love for himself and his wife who perished
after she gave birth to Hareton. Instead of carrying on that love to his son . He
decided to fall into dissipation over Frances death and make Wuthering Heights a
horror for the residence especially Heathcliff. He neglects his son thou he by far
manlier than Edgar. Edgar copping well with the loss of Catherine and didnt fall
into a state of malice over her lost Edgar choose not to blame those around him for
his wifes death but transferred that love and compassion to his daughter.
Edgar and Cathy had a healthy relationship. Cathy basically got her way with her
father. Edgar grew resigned to Catherine's death, and loved his daughter, who he
called Cathy, very much.
Hindley and Hareton had an abusive relationship he took out his frustration on He
almost killed Hareton as baby in a drunken fit and cursed hareton on occasion.
Hindley never gave Hindley the love that Frances showed him. He neglected
Hareton and refuses to acknowledge as his own. Elle says He had room in his
heart for only two idols his wife and himself he doted on both and adored one
Hindley only loved himself.

13. Cathy cries learning that Hareton is her relative. She refuse to accept Hareton
as her cousin. Hareton offered her a puppy to console her, which she refused.

14. She offended Hareton though by asking whether he was the master's son, and
when he said he wasn't, saying he was a servant. It wasn;t intentional Cathy just
doesnt know any better

15. Cathy appears to display more Linton characteristics than Earnshaw ones, her
desire to explore the wilderness outside of the Grange's park links her strongly to
the wild, Wuthering Heights clan. Her sauciness also reminds the reader of her
mother, as does her aristocratic unwillingness to be related to Hareton just as
Catherine thought it would degrade her to marry Heathcliff, who was at the time
very much like Hareton .

16. When Isabella fell ill, she wrote to Edgar to come visit her, so he was gone for
three weeks.

17. Linton, a "pale, delicate, effeminate, boy," with a "sickly peevishness" in his
appearance. He is the embodiment of Edgar he is the anti-force to his father
Heathcliff he has none fathers violent tendencies. Linton is Heathcliff failed
experiment of vengeance. Linton failed to be the blight of the Edgar Linton instead
being the he is the helpless "lady" of the two, who cries when he doesn't get his
way, and allows himself to be "courted" by his female cousin.

18. Intrigued that Edgar would comply to a request from his former love rival.
Edgar only showed such a side to his wife and daughter. He barely puts up a fight
to hold on to his nephew

19. Linton would receive the exact opposite to the treatment of the Lintonss
household. He would be treated like his mother was cruelly under the supervision
of his Joseph and Hareton since they despised his effeminate ways. Heathcliff
would put up with him for the sake of vengeance against Edgar. Linton was going
to endure a lot of

20. Isabella does get a chance to meet her brother before her passing away. She did
the right thing by not telling Linton of her past with his father who made her life
miserable. She did it to protect him and by placing him the custody of her brother
who would take care of him as her own instead of Heathcliff who would most
likely put him through the same misery she endured during her marriage. It is a
means of trying to create order between the two familys by making Linton stay
with his uncle. This will prevent further chaos and depravity.
