BROCHURE
Discription:
A two sided color brochure with four folds.
Views arerepresented in the front, inside
and back.

Date:
12/05/2015

Course/Instructor:
Comm 130 Section 1
Cory Kerr

Program(s)/Tools:
Adobe InDesign, Photoshop and Illustrator

Objectives:
To set up a document with at least two
folds. Create a original logo, include 250
words along with four pictures.

Process:
After my sketch and my first draft I
scrapped both and came up with a better
draft. I did a lot of research in order to
find out what kind of message Bodyguardz
was trying to portrey. Setting up the
measurements was dificult. To help format I
used paragraph styles, I also used a text
wrap on my image. I used lots of whitespace
for the front page so that it was clean
and the audience had no confusion of who
produced the brochure.

MONTAGE
Discription:
A color montage, to mix several images to
look lie a single image. It needs to have a
spiritual or motivational message.

Date:
10/25/2015

Course/Instructor:
Comm 130 Section 1
Cory Kerr

Program(s)/Tools:
Adobe Photoshop

Objectives:
Unify a layout with a consistent theme and
dominant spiritual message. Learn to blend
two or more images together. Use a mask to
apply a filter to one part of the image.

Process:
I used the brush tool in order to create
a soft edge to mix my Swimmer into the
waterfall. I took some textures of waves and
made them really small, and then I brought
down the opacity to really make my swimmer
look like he was diving down a waterfall. I
had to sharpen the image. I also had to edit
out a man in the image. I created repetition
with the focus on the capitol "L" in the
word "Live." How it works is the flow of the
image also is in an "L" format. A applied
masks to not damage pixels.

WEB PAGE
Discription:
This Web page was designed in order to show
that I can format an HTML and design a CSS.

Date:
11/21/2015

Course/Instructor:
Comm 130 Section 1
Cory Kerr

Program(s)/Tools:
Adobe Dreamweaver and TextWrangler

Objectives:
Write content to describe the process of
creating your logo, and how it appeals to a
target audience. Acquire a working knowledge
of HTML. Acquire a working knowledge of CSS.

Process:
Choosing the color scheme and the
backgrounds were the most challenging. I
realized that I wanted a picture after I
had tried many other options. The Picture
was provided by my brother. I blurred the
image because it changed the focal point
from the background to the information.
Once I blurred the background it brought
the message forward. I choose a background
that added to my message. I adjusted the
transparency of my white text box so that
it would connect the background with the
message, and unify the colors.

LETTERHEAD
Discription:
A letterhead displaying a watercolor of the
Company logo as well as contact information.

Date:
11/08/2015

Course/Instructor:
Comm 130 Section 1
Cory Kerr

Program(s)/Tools:
Adobe InDesign, Photoshop and Illustrator.

Objectives:
Use the basic tools in Illustrator and
InDesign. Create a new logo to fit a company
or personal image. Use the new logo to
design consistent layouts for a business
card and letterhead. Keep designs simple
with light watermarks.

Process:
I used the same images that I had used form
my Business card (which can be found on
the next page). I provided repetition by
bringing part of the leaf as a watermark. I
also used the Frog Logo as a watermark. I
then included the Company logo and name at
the top with the contact information to the
right. I used cross repetition by changing
my name to be red to match with Acrylics.

BUSINESS CARD
Discription:
It is a business card, which shows the front
and back views of the company identity.

Date:
11/08/2015

Course/Instructor:
Comm 130 Section 1
Cory Kerr

Program(s)/Tools:
Adobe InDesign, Photoshop and Illustrator.

Objectives:
Create a new logo to fit a company or
personal image. Use the new logo to design
consistent layouts for a business card.

Process:
I demonstrated how to link images from other
Adobe software to create the final project.
I began by sketching out many potential
logos. I researched many tree frogs. I
edited the leaf texture on Photoshop to
give it a soft edge. I used pastel colors
because the company deals with paints and it
gave it a very artistic feel. I choose my
title font so that it looked like a brush
painted it. I even designed the Frog to have
very soft curves to give the appearance that
it was painted. I chose the background green
color to make it look like the frog was
crawling on a leaf.

PHOTODESIGN
Discription:
A colored ad for students to explore
different options before they graduate.

Date:
10/17/2015

Course/Instructor:
Comm 130 Section 1
Cory Kerr

Program(s)/Tools:
Digital Camera and Adobe Photoshop

Objectives:
Learn basic photography skills. Choose a
color scheme, take a photo to match those
colors, and then incorporate the colors into
the layout. Use layers to design text, and
repeating graphic elements in Photoshop.

Process:
For this photo I created a sketch of what I
wanted and what colors I wanted. I planned
how I wanted the Eggs to be laying and what
color of eggs. I chose three eggs of each
color to support the rule of thirds. I added
the fall leaves to support the season and
my color scheme. The Oval shapes at the
top I rearranged to create better Gestalt.
I adjusted the vibrancy and the levels of
light and Darkness, I also decreased the
size of the image so that it didn't take as
much space but still had a high quality.

EVENT AD
Discription:
To demonstrate making an event ad in
Microsoft Word for Cub Scouts.

Date:
10/10/2015

Course/Instructor:
Comm 130 Section 1
Cory Kerr

Program(s)/Tools:
Scanner and Microsoft Word

Objectives:
Find, scan and import a high-quality image.
Create a full-bleed design. Choose a color
scheme and typeface that work for the
message and audience.

Process:
I found my picture in Wired Magazine
September 2015 edition. When scanning the
image I increased the ppi. I drew a sketch
to get my ideas on paper. I then changed the
colors of my shapes so that they mirrored
similar colors found in the image. I then
added some Proximity by matching one of
my shapes to a Ribbon that comes out of
my images hair. To get a little bit of
Asymmetry I changed the opacity on a few of
my color shapes so that my scanned image was
visible behind them.

Program(s)/Tools:
Adobe Illustrator

Objectives:
Create three different versions of the same
logo. Market Research: Gather opinions from
at least ten people.

Process:
I started by sketching; I sketched several
ideas on a pad of paper before I actually
went into Illustrator. Then on Illustrator
I made my top 3 favorite logos. Each Logo
had a different theme and color scheme. I
then arranged an opinion poll on which logo
was their favorite the Logo displayed was
the favorite. In addition I asked two fellow
students to critique my logos to get extra
feedback. I wanted a professional simple
look, with professional cool tone colors. I
choose to have the letters bleed of to give
a cleaner look.

Program(s)/Tools:
Adobe InDesign

Objectives:
Apply the design principles and use
appropriate typography.

Process:
I began by sketching and brainstorming
designs. I identified my message and my
Audience. I then began contrasting the value
of the different shapes, added my Image and
the title. Used high contrast for my title
to create a focal point. I then created
a design to provide repetition into my
design, so while following the rule of odds
I created five symmetrical Squares that I
used at the top left and right sides, and
bottom of the Flyer. In discovered in order
to simplify and create a better gestalt I
needed to get rid of a few items. I sought
to try and align everything to something.
