Brochure
This is a folding menu for a fctitious pizzeria called The Peel.

Date

Objective
To efectively say we make pizza from scratch. We dont mind if its a
little less pretty or a little charred. We do it right!
This is not for those who are wanting a cheap meal fast. It really
caters to those who believe its worth making an efort with the food
they eat.

Process
On the front and outside, I went for a minimalistic approach: just
letting that great photo shine. The placement and coloring of a
proper logo really makes the photo pop. Placement of objects on the
outside of this brochure are in relation to items in the photo.

Objective
The message sent is: we know our roots as publishers, even though
printing presses are not used anymore. Those who care about
history and applying it to a modern world are my audience.

Process
I wanted to make a logo for nostalgic printers: those that know about
old printing presses. The main graphic is the portion of a printing
press that does the actual pressing. I needed to suggest press in
another way than just the title. So I chose a wide extended typeface
for that particular word. So for contrast, I searched for another font
for publishing that was similar but tall and condensed.

Logo
This is a suggested logo change for a company based in Lincoln, Ne.

Date
November 2015

Illustrator

Objective
This company does research into methods of improving crops and
livestock around the world. So I wanted this to say farming or clean
food or trustworthy sources of food. The audience for this logo
would likely be anywhere from local to commercial farmers around
the world.

Process
This is a simple, but clear, design idea. I added a simple spout top to
my capital I with the pen tool in Illustrator.

Objective
This defnitely would appeal to those who are nostalgic. I wanted the
message to be: Yes these are old books, but they have treasures
hidden inside.

Process
Theres a balanced design in this poster. The photos focal point is in
the upper lef corner and the graphic elements are in the lower right
corner.

This is an inspirational poster that draws from Boyd K. Packers
famous Spiritual Crocodiles metaphor.

Date

Objective
The approach to this inspirational message straight forward and
considerably alarming. This is obviously gauged toward the LDS
community. While other Christians might surmise the meaning behind
the metaphor, it is best known among Mormons.

Process
I blurred some of the background image to help bring the foreground
photo into the focal point. I ended up doing a color burn in my title to
maintain a certain texture in the type.

EventAd
This is an advertisement for a fundraising event featuring donuts.

Date

Objective
This is pretty straight forward. Come get good food. Oh and youll
help people while youre at it. I would imagine that this would appeal
mostly to the hungry college-age crowd, those who actually eat
donuts for breakfast and are not worried about its afects.

Process
I settled on a triadic color scheme of teal and gold to match the
magenta of that wonderful center donut. I chose to leave the
majority of the photo alone and let the text be only in one corner. To
help with visibility in the text, I put a transparent black box behind it
for contrast. Because the photo is so busy and involved I opted for
the simple yet powerful typeface in my text.

This is a fier designed to work well monochromatically with black and
white printing.

Date

Objective
This fier is meant to communicate a path of professional success. This
fier is aimed at graduating seniors in business.

Process
My primary concerns in this fier were placement and spacing. I
wanted the focal point to be placed 2/3 on the page and everything
else to have enough space between them for it to feel open and snug.

W ebPage
This is a webpage based of of my Press Publishing logo.

Date
November 2015

Sofware
Illustrator, HTML, and CSS.

Objective
This page was created to maintain clarity of information and
cleanliness of design.

Process
The background, border, header, and body copy were made to match
the colors in my color scheme. I created more padding on the header
1. I increased the border on the image and made it foat lef. I changed
the behavior of the link at the bottom of the page: such the active
color and the hover color.

Logo Design
This webpage was created to showcase this
logo I created. It includes, but is not limited
to, the process of creating the logo, rationale
for color choices, appeal to target audience,
and design skills.

About this Logo

The graphic portion of the logo was
made in Illustrator with the pen tool as a
representation of outdated printing
presses. The typefaces were chosen for
their "traditional" qualities; they are the
type of fonts you'd find in old printing.
The logo uses a complimentary color
scheme with orange and teal. I especially
wanted the dark teal because it reminds
me of the cold, heavy, metal of a printing
press.
This design has an air of nostalgia while maintaining a clean, modern look. Those who know the
history of printing will appreciate it for the graphic representation, those who don't will still recognize
the action in the word "press". This branding says that the company understands their history and that
their expertise is derived from the experts of the past.
The main graphic is the portion of a printing press that does the actual pressing. I chose a wide
extended typeface for "press". For contrast, I searched for another font for publishing that was similar
but tall and condensed. I didnt want to forcibly stretch any of the fonts to my purpose. The
juxtaposition of these typefaces makes "press" look squashed. Thus, "press" is represented three ways:
in word, in graphic, and in action.
