Administrative Assistant

Accomplishment Story
When I joined the company, the filing system was a mess. Documents were filed under a client's name or the type
of industry the client company was in. It was really overwhelming, and it could take hours to find critical
documents. It was a real waste of time and money, so I decided to take action.
First, I scheduled a meeting with each of the three department managers, who used the filing system to find out
specifically what their needs were. Based on those discussions as well as my own experience, I outlined a system
I thought would work efficiently. Then I shared my ideas with the managers. They were on board. I was really
excited and challenged, and within three weeks I had reorganized the entire system. I posted a copy of the new
procedures so everyone would know how the system worked.
Now, a year later, it takes us almost no time to find the files and documents that are needed, and the managers
who used to have to wait so long for information are now able to work much more efficiently. The final result is
that we have a more productive and cost-effective area.
Accomplishment Statement
Initiated and implemented new filing system that allowed critical documents to be retrieved quickly, cutting in half
the amount of time spent searching for documents.

Human Resources/Operations Executive

Accomplishment Story
Three years ago, Holmes Insurance consolidated all customer service to a central location, which resulted in a
downsizing of approximately 30 percent. Holmes needed people who knew their jobs were going away to stay for
up to 18 months. My job was to find ways to retain and motivate people in a situation where workloads were
increasing and morale was on the decline.
From prior experience, I knew that the way we treated people who left the organization would have a huge impact
on retention and productivity. I also knew that we had to pay attention to all employees throughout the process,
not just those who would be leaving.
We implemented a variety of integrated initiatives that included outplacement services at an on-site Career
Transition Center, stay-pay and retention bonuses, training on change management and career planning, skills
training to help employees become more marketable and coaching for our leaders and managers. But most
important was the implementation of a proactive communication strategy that ensured senior leadership knew
what issues most concerned employees while giving employees access to information as quickly as possible. The
systems we developed for the "crisis" situation are still in effect and are credited as one of the key reasons the
company's culture is as healthy as it is today.
The reorganization worked, in large part, because of the strategies I put in place. People felt good about the way
things were handled, productivity and retention remained high, the organization's reputation is still strong and the
business objectives were accomplished.
Accomplishment Statement
Spearheaded HR and communication support for 15 downsizings over a 16-month period. With senior leadership,
managed employee morale issues and minimized backlash by pressing hard to use aggressive, proactive
communication approaches.

Operations Executive, Managed Care

Accomplishment Story
One of my first assignments at Premier was to head up the merger of Resick Clinic with Premier's Internal
Medicine departments. There was a lot of resistance to bringing these organizations together because each had a
distinct culture and identity. And everyone had reasons why it wouldn't work. It was my job was to get it done.
I started by building a partnership with the operations executive at Resick. I knew that without her full commitment
and brainpower the project would fail. We pulled a transition team together and went off-site for a couple of days.
The session ended with a plan that involved the doctors and staff in the process of determining how to bring these
organizations together. The process took about six months and involved one-on-one meetings, small group
discussions, forums to bring people together informally so they could get to know each other and the systematic
recruitment of support from key physicians in each organization. Once people realized they could help create the
new organization, we saw a shift in attitude.
In the end, we had established a heart, cancer and mental health institute that provides more focused care to
patients while giving the organization a unique marketing edge and increased visibility in the community. It was in
this project that I learned how to involve all the stakeholders in the change process.
Accomplishment Statement
Developed and implemented a process for merging the Resick Clinic and Premier Health's Internal Medicine
departments in an atmosphere of strong resistance. This resulted in the formation of a heart, cancer and mental
health institute.
