HOUSES IN A HOROSCOPE

In Hindu astrology, there are 12 houses in a horoscope which are represented differently in various parts of
the country. The north Indian and South Indian charts are mostly used and below are the diagrams of the
various charts used for predicting many things.

The north Indian Horoscope:

The south Indian Horoscpe:

Though there are other types also but these are most widely used worldwide by Indian astrologers. Each
house represents many things and thus overall the 12 houses represents the complete life cycle of a human
being. Both are different not only in appearance but they are read differently also. The north Indian chart is
read counterclockwise and the first house is the ascendant. The south Indian horoscope is read clockwise and
always begins with the first sign Aries. The ascendant is written in the sign where it falls.

The First House : The first house House or the Lagna Or the Ascendant : The first house in a horoscope
indicates or represents the body as a whole, indications for longevity, the nature of the individual,
hair, Honor, Respect, head, and means of finances are also indicated by this house. It also shows one`s
courage, aggressiveness, working style etc.

The second house or the KutumbBhaava or the Dhanbhava : Represents all eatables, mouth, face,
bank balance, death, family, speech, right eye etc.

The third house or the parakrambhaava or the bhratasthaan : represents brothers, communication,
short travels, valor and prowess, sports, the defense department of government, arms, youth,
documents etc.

The fourth house or the sukhsthaan or the maatrabhaava : represents vehicles, mother, mind,
immovableproperty, lands, farming, joys and sorrows, lungs, chest, blood, the masses in day to day life
etc.

The fifth house or putrabhaava or the punyabhaava : represents progeny, intellect, religious
inclination, previous birth karmas, extracurricular activities in the field of arts and culture like dance
music and films ,leisure, romantic life, affairs of a native etc.

The sixth house or the ripubhaava or the rinbhaava : represents the enemies , the loans , servants,
pets, job, metal tensions, brother of mother, intestines, violence, diseases, injuries etc.

The seventh house or kalatrbhaava : represents the marriage, partnerships, legal matters, impotence,
trades, semen, sexual activities, death etc are seen from this house.

The eighth house or the mrityubhaava: represents death, longevity, cause of death, accidents, pervert
sexual activities,research,legacies,suddengains,scortem,dishonor,losses of all kinds, hurdles etc.

The ninth house or the bhagyasthana or the pitrabhaava : represents long journeys, ,divine help,
sudden events of good or bad nature, religion, penance, father, communication with far off people,
sea travel, higher education, philosophy etc.

The tenth house or the karmbhaava : the 10th house is the prime house of the "karma" or the deeds
wea re going to do in the present life and the extent of success or failure of them. It also stands for
government, knees, honor, fame, respect etc.

The eleventh house or the laabhsthana or the mitrabhaava : represents gains of all kinds, fulfillment of
desires, friends, the lower portion of the leg, injuries etc. The most successful people have this house
very strong in their charts irrespective of their domains.

The 12th house or moksha bhaava :represents the expenses, death, losses, bed pleasures,
confinement in jail, hospitalization, foreign aid, seperations, right eye etc
