COMMENTS AND OPINION

They are several comments and opinions found regarding Nestls Customer Social
Responsibility, some of them are mostly found in a negative and just a few found on
the positive side.
1. Nestle has been voted as the least ethical company of the 25 years by readers of
Ethical Consumer. Nestle is currently subjected to the longest ever running consumer
boycott. In my opinion this may caused by the issue that happens till today where
Nestle belongs to an Israel company so to stop the bombing and war issue in Palestine
most of the people tend to boycott Nestle and any other companies related under
Israel. Other than that, Nestle has been boycott regarding their baby milk formula due
to irresponsible marketing of baby formula.
2. In recent years, the company had also been criticized for its use of child labour
and palm oil and for not labeling the GM ingredients. Ethical consumer Tim Hunt
said that it is an interesting result because it shows that people feel strongly about
nestle even after so many years and despite it trying to greenwash its image by using
fairtrade chocolate in some of its product. He added that from baby milk to kit kats
and across different other product lines.
3. Through investing in innovation and leveraging leading-edge science, they are
striving to forge a new industry between food and pharmaceuticals based upon
inherently safe nutritional therapies with relevant levels of quality of life benefits and
proven clinical and health economic value. One of the challenges relates to the
definition of medical foods are foods that are specifically formulated for the dietary
management of patients with diseases or conditions for which there are distinctive
nutritional requirements. There are still many questions around the definition of
medical foods, which have knock-on implications for product claims, labelling and
marketing.
4.

They are basiacally creating very different approach to the Corporate Social

Responsibility because they do not focused on a meeting set of a standard external

critirea or even on the philanthrophy. The idea is that the winner and also the losers
doesnt fit all the models in the Nestles Corporate Social Responsibility.

5. Regarding the issue that was nestle accused of sactions busting in Zimbabwe
BBC has said that nestle has completely close down its operation in Zimbabwe and
the company have triggered further food shortage and hundreds of job loses among
its employees and milk suppliers and they are already in a very big difficult situation.
6. Nestle has improved a lot in their CSR system one of it concludes helping the Asia
region by producing 217 clean drinking water to help access sanitation for more that
hundreds and thousands of student. Nestle has been running their water saving
projects so maybe that is why I thought this is something great they could participate
in order to achieve a better view from the public.
7. Nestl in Society: Creating Shared Value and meeting our commitments has
been prepared according to GRIs G3.1 Guidelines, at Application Level A+.
8. We believe that this 2013 report on Creating Shared Value at Nestl represents a
significant step forward in our drive to communicate transparently, this is a set of
forward-looking commitments covering every part of our business, providing a clear
sense of the strategic direction we are heading in and the standards to which we hold
ourselves accountable.
