Adel al-Abbab: “The Crusader Attack
on Yemen” (Released March 29,
2010)
On March 29, 2010, al‐Malahem Media Production—Al‐Qaida in the Arabian Peninsula’s 
(AQAP) media arm—released an audio recording featuring Sheikh Abi az‐Zubeir Adel al‐
Abbab,  in  which  he  condemned  the  Americans  for  occupying  “the  sky  of  Yemen  with 
their surveillance jets that violate the privacy of the Muslims and view their secrets.” He 
alleged that “the reason for America’s monstrous attack on the mujahideen in Yemen is 
its fear of the establishment of the Islamic sharia on earth…” In his view, “They fight the 
Muslims  in  Yemen  in  order  to  guarantee  for  them  the  presence  of  Israel  occupying 
Palestine,  and  to  keep  the  presence  of  the  America,  British  and  French  armies  to 
continue  exploiting  and  muddling  with  the  Muslims  resources  in  Iraq  and  the  Arabian 
Peninsula.”  Further,  al‐Abbab  noted  that  the  U.S.  supported  Yemen  counterterrorism 
operations  “with  a  sum  that  tops  $70  million  in  the  recent  months  of  2009”  and  that 
“the Pentagon promised to raise the sum to $150 million.” He urged “honest Ulama…to 
sign a collective fatwa in regards to prohibiting fighting in the ranks of the cooperative 
Yemeni‐American  campaign  against  the  mujahideen.”  Al‐Abbab,  moreover,  praised 
Christmas Day bomber, Nigerian national Omar al‐Farooq Abdulmutallab, asserting that 
“he  crossed  these  made‐up  boundaries  achieving  the  highest  meanings  of  Islamic 
brotherhood  as  he  tried  to  target  the  American  airliner  to  support  his  brothers  and  to 
respond to the monstrosity of the disbelievers’ raids” 
 
“Praise Allah, the Defeater and Giver, Vector of the Mujahideen; the Reasonable 
ones, and Defeater of the Americans and the tails [apostates], and Glorifier of His 
pious soldiers and Degrader of the malevolent disbelievers, and thereafter.” 
 
“The Americans have occupied the sky of Yemen with their surveillance jets that 
violate the privacy of the Muslims and view their secrets, under the cooperation and 
care of Ali Abdullah Saleh and his regime, and with support from Al‐Saud. And as a 
result of this cooperation and loyalty, everyone watched the ugliest pictures of 
monstrous raids and convulsion of body‐pieces in the raid at dawn on Thursday, 
over our brothers in Abeen province in al‐Ma’jalah region, and its victims were tens 
of Muslims from women, children and elders; even entire families were completely 
destroyed. And, another raid was over Arhab and Rafd region in Shabwa; all that 
was with the excuse of targeting the mujahideen. And, this monstrous attack against 
the Muslim homelands shows us that the raids are considered a series of crusader 
attacks on Yemen as prior to this attack there was [another] raid using an American 
unpiloted jet over the sheikh Abu Ali al‐Harithi and his companions in 2002, besides 
the intelligence dens that were opened in their embassies in Sana’a and the military 
bases on the Yemeni islands and waters, accompanied with the ideological invasion 
of the Muslim countries.”

“And it becomes clear for us the constraint of the Kufr, international system and its 
agents concerning Muslims in the Arabian Peninsula and especially the South of the 
Arabian Peninsula (Yemen), and [Prophet Muhammad] prayer and peace upon him 
said [Hadith].” 
 
“This constraint and suppression over the Muslims countrie is not hidden from 
every rational [person] such as America’s support to Yemen with a sum that tops 
$70 million in the recent months of 2009. All of which is for fighting the mujahideen 
and any route that will bring back the Islamic Caliphate, and this support remains 
continuous that the Pentagon promised to raise the sum to $150 million.” 
 
“And this suppression clarifies the Christians act in preparing a number of brigades 
from the Muslim people and trained them to protect their [American] soldiers in the 
sea and to fight the mujahideen on land, and these brigades are called in the regime 
of Ali Abdullah Saleh ‘Counterterrorism,’ and ‘The National and Political Security,’ 
and ‘The Special Guard,’ and there are known in the regime of Al‐Saud as ‘The 
Special Forces,’ and ‘Emergency [Forces],’ and ‘Intelligence.’ And also what shows 
this suppression is permitting the American, surveillance and war jets to move 
around in the sphere of Yemen and especially in the spheres of Abeen, Shabwah, 
Ma’reb, Sa’da and others; with arrogance and condescendence, and in violation of 
the honors of the free tribes, and in offense to their privacies, land and country.” 
 
“And from the images of the suppression also are what we see of holding 
conferences and international meetings to discuss the method of fighting the 
elevating Islamic direction which calls for establishing the Sharia in Yemen, and is 
represented particularly in the Al‐Qaida Organization, and recently the Prime 
Minister of Britain ‘Brown’ called to hold an international conference at the end of 
the first month of 2010 to discuss countering the expansive activities of the 
mujahideen in Yemen. As their meeting against us in Yemen reminds us with the 
meeting of Lucifer and the disbeliever tribes of Quraish and their allies against the 
prophet, prayer and peace upon him, in Dar al‐Nadwa, and their agreement was 
done whereas from every tribe in Quraish brawny youths would be given a strong 
sword [each] and to attack the prophet, prayer and peace upon him, in a one‐man 
attack so his blood can be scattered between all the tribes.”  
 
“And what this crusader campaign showed is the stand of the Arabian, cooperative 
regimes with this international, Crusader alliance against Muslims in Yemen, 
beginning with the two regimes of Ali Abdullah Saleh and Al‐Saud and ending with 
the countries that signed with America to fight the mujahideen, as Ali Abdullah 
Saleh declared more than one time assuring the partnership with America in 
fighting the Muslim mujahideen under the term of ‘counterterrorism.’ Also, the head 
of national security forces Ali al‐Ansi appeared on the media channels and assured 
that Yemen is in a partnering position with America in fighting terrorism—meaning, 
the mujahideen—and with all arrogance and degradation they confess to 
coordinating with Christians in raiding the Muslims, and they exchange 
congratulations for shedding the Muslims’ blood.”

“Here, I want to put this question, why [do they] attack the mujahideen in Yemen? 
Why is this crusader attack on the mujahideen camps, houses, forces, offshoots, 
villages and their places of congregation; why do they fear them [mujahideen] and 
take them highly into consideration?” 
 
“The answer: the reason for America’s monstrous attack on the mujahideen in 
Yemen is its fear of the establishment of the Islamic sharia on earth just like the 
prophet, prayer and peace upon him, established it; thus, the malicious Americans 
sought with all of what they possess of Western power, and Arabic [power] that is 
represented in the [Arabic] regimes and their armies and cooperatives, to deter and 
fight any Muslim [person] who wants to establish the Sharia; any Muslim who wants 
to liberate al‐Aqsa from the Jews and remove the occupiers from the Muslim 
homelands.”  
 
“They fight the Muslims in Yemen in order to guarantee for them the presence of 
Israel occupying Palestine, and to allow the American, British and French armies to 
continue exploiting and muddling with the Muslims resources in Iraq and the 
Arabian Peninsula.”  
 
“They fight Muslims in Yemen and especially in Abeen so the army of Aden Abeen, 
which was promised by the prophet, prayer and peace upon him to his Ummah; to 
be a supportive army to the people of Yemen; to purify the land from the impurity of 
the occupiers [Hadith]” 
 
“O’ Muslims, imagine with me the coming‐out of this army that the prophet 
promised, then establishing the Sharia on earth? Will Kufr remain after that? Will 
injustice remain? Will drought remain? No, neither Kufr nor injustice nor drought 
will remain. [Verse]” 
 
“The Western and Arabic regimes are sanctioning Palestine beginning with the 
Arabic surrounding countries, and what we hear about today of metal, steel wall is 
distant, and the more amazing is that you’d find [some] who market that in the 
name of Sharia, and Sharia disowns these.”  
 
“The bigger calamity is what we see concerning disappointment in the Ulama and 
the silence of the jurists, and originally, the Ulama should have a practical stance on 
the grounds towards this Crusader attack on the Muslim countries, and towards the 
biggest betrayal the traitor regime practices against the Muslims.” 
 
“O’ Ulama, you must take the path Allah Has commanded you and made a covenant 
with you over to not silence the jurisprudence; [Verse]…as this cooperation from the 
governments of Ali Abdullah Saleh and Al‐Saud with the Crusaders in fighting the 
mujahideen in Yemen is an example of Kufr and apostasy from the faith of Allah; 
thus, where are you in showing this jurisprudence?”

“Standing with the Americans and the West in their aggression on the Muslims is 
considered allying with them; it’s considered cooperating with them, and Allah Has 
forbade us from this alliance and this support and this cooperation, and Allah ruled 
as Kafir he who protects the Kuffar. [verse] This is a truth that does not create a 
dispute between two Muslims; he who fights for the cause of the Christians is a 
Christian and he who fights for the sake of Jews is Jewish, and he who spies on the 
Muslims for the benefit of the Cross [Christians] is from amongst them. The Jurist 
Ahmad Shaker was asked about the ruling of [Muslims] cooperating with the 
Englishmen, so he said: ‘cooperating with the English in any kind of cooperation, 
little or high, is [ruled as] inordinate apostasy and apparent Kufr in which an 
apology isn’t accepted and construes do not work with it, and not [even] stupid 
apprehension or holey policies or courtesy; it is hypocrisy whether that was by 
individuals or government or leaders, they all are equal in Kufr and apostasy, except 
he who was ignorant and erred then realized his matter [of error], repented and 
took the path of the believers.”  
 
“One of the honest Ulama said, after talking about the necessity of estranging the 
Kuffar and disowning them: ‘thus, imagine those who helped them or dragged them 
over the countries of the Islamic people or complimented them or preferred them 
for justice over the Islamic people or chose their homes and residences and states 
and loved their appearance; this is apostasy with clear consensus.’”  
 
“O’ Muslim Ulama, why is this distancing [from Jihad] in the shadow of these 
conditions? Why do we not see from you a practical initiative to eradicate this 
American military intervention as it stays in our water [Gulf of Aden], in our 
spheres, and on our islands? Also, it is not hidden from you that this intervention in 
the Muslims countries is for the sake of humiliating Muslims, weakening them, and 
changing their faith and culture [Verse]. If the enemy becomes capable, he will bring 
back what the Tatars did to Muslims and their Ulama in Baghdad, and what the 
enemies now do in Palestine and Iraq, and Abu Ghraib prison[‘s memory] is near, 
and if the ship is left to sink it will hamr everyone, and regret won’t be of benefit 
time have passed; so, your duty O’ Ulama is to realize the matter and show the 
Muslims their duty towards the enemies and their cooperatives’ attacks on the 
Muslims countries, so we won’t face what others did [Verse].” 
 
“And here, I condone the fatwas of some Ulama on the matter of rejecting the 
American intervention and they must follow the saying with deeds. And Sheikh 
Abdullah Azzam for them is an example and model in jihad and fight on the 
battlefield. And I remind them with some of the stances of the Muslims leaders and 
Ulama in their coalescence and consensus on deterring the invasive enemy from the 
faith and the honors; when the ‘foreigners’ entered the Muslim countries the Ulama 
and the Muslim heroes came out to deter them, displace them and kill them and 
remove them from the Muslim countries, like Imad ad‐Din Zanki and Salahuddeen 
al‐Ayyubi. And also when the Tatars invaded Damascus, the Sheikh of Islam Ibn 
Taimia and the Ulama of his country had their role in Jihad and role in encouraging 
Muslims to send them out [for jihad], and history has drawn for them honorable

stances in rejecting the invaders, standing with the Muslims and publishing fatwas 
to fight them [invaders]” 
 
“O’ honest Ulama, we want you to sign a collective fatwa in regards to prohibiting 
fighting in the ranks of the cooperative Yemeni‐American campaign against the 
mujahideen. And this is the least you can provide from what Allah Has obliged you 
and made a covenant with you before this Crusader attack on Yemen, and the sheikh 
of Islam Ibn Taimia was asked about the Muslim troops who joined the Tatars and 
had uttered the Shahadatayn [The two testimonies of No God but Allah and 
Muhammad is the Messenger of Allah], and had belonged to Islam and did not 
remain in Kufr, [these] who were in it [Kufr] and deviated from applying the clear 
Islamic laws—with the vast apparentness of the Americans’ Kufr and the Tatar’s 
claim [to belong] to Islam—despite that, Sheikh of Islam Ibn Taimia gave a fatwa 
necessitating fighting the Muslim troops who joined the Tatars even if the 
participant in their [Tatars] ranks are from the jurisprudent people; that people 
began to say: ‘if you see me on that side—meaning, in the ranks of the Tatars—with 
a Qur’an over my head, [do] kill me.’”  
 
“O’ Muslims, the mujahideen in Yemen are facing the most vicious Crusader attack, 
so it isn’t valid for you to participate in his [Ali Abdullah Saleh] army to assist the 
Crusaders in the war over the mujahideen if you want to preserve your Islamism; to 
preserve your humanism; to preserve your manliness; to preserve your pride.”  
 
“O’ people of lively conscience and pumping hearts, imagine if this aggression was 
on your people and families, what would you do? What would you say?” 
 
“O’ proud tribes of Yemen, how do you claim Ali [Abdullah] Saleh [as ruler] as he 
dragged the Jews and the Christians over to your country; violating your privacies 
and manipulating your resources, recruiting your children for the sake of the 
Americans in chasing after and fighting your Mujahideen children; so who is the 
beneficiary from this battle except the Crusaders and Israel?” 
 
“It is shameful and dishonorable that a human would bring invaders over his honor 
and country and make them walk free of restrictions in his house; how could that 
happen? [Verse]” 
 
“And then, O’ you soldiers, be informed that our battle is with America that supports 
Israeil in killing our weakened brothers in Palestine; our battle is with who has 
occupied Iraq and Afghanistan; our battle is with who outstretched arms on our 
country and occupied the water passageways [straits] and occupied the air‐spheres 
until it situation reached to killing our women and children, so don’t be one of their 
soldiers and helpers in their Crusade war.”  
 
“And ask yourself, soldier: in which rank are you standing, and tomorrow you are 
dead inevitably, so what will you say to your Lord tomorrow? [Verse]”

“O’ Soldier, coming out with the crowd of Ali Abdullah Saleh against the mujahideen 
in Abeen, Shabwa and Ma’reb isn’t but a stand in the rank of Satan’s allies, so don’t 
let Ali Abdullah Saleh to fight and participate for the benefit of the Americans; as 
Allah’s messenger was asked about the man who fights bravely, and who fights 
defensively, and who fights hypocritically; thus, which of them is for the cause of 
Allah, so the messenger of Allah, prayer and peace upon him said: ‘he who fights for 
the words of Allah to be the highest is [fighting] for the cause of Allah.’ You soldiers, 
is your position in a place of he who fights to raise the words of Allah or in the rank 
of he who fights the words of Allah?”  
 
“The truth of the war is clear: between the fighters [seeking] to raise the words of 
Allah and they are the mujahideen. And between the fighters [seeking] to raise the 
words of America and her agents, so soldier, don’t be from these who fight on behalf 
to fight to the words of Allah; the best of what you can do soldier is to point your 
weapon towards who sent you to stand with the Crusaders, and to encourage your 
mates to stop fighting the mujahideen, and with that you become one of the 
participants in breaking the campaign of the Cross.” 
 
“O’ Muslims, I believe it has been shown to you the dimensions of the struggle 
between Islam and the Crusaders and their cooperatives in Yemen, and the truth of 
their fear is the development in the Islamic expansion, and Allah‐willing, their 
expenditure on this war to put off the light of Allah will be a scourge and heartbreak 
for them [verse].” 
 
“And the light of Allah shall remain, and Allah refuses but to keep his light in spite of 
the hatred of the disbelievers. The light of Allah will reach over night and day; the 
army of the mujahideen shall reach Earth’s east and west, as Allah is above their 
[enemies] jets and above their power. He is the Almighty, May He be glorified. He is 
the Most Powerful. He is the Enforcer. He is the Avenger, and we ask Him—like He 
drowned the tribe of Noah and destroyed the Sodomites and defeated the [Kufr] 
parties—to destroy America and her allies; to destroy America and her allies; to 
bring down their jets and drown their artilleries, and to grace the mujahideen in 
their vengeance.”  
 
“And O’ Muslims, all what we have to do is circulate around the mujahideen and 
fight on their side; to fight an enemy that disbelieved in Alah; to fight an enemy that 
broke the egg of Muslims; we fight an enemy that widowed the women and 
orphaned the children, this is a duty on every Muslim. [Verse] [Hadith]” 
 
“O’ Mujahideen, do not turn to rumors and do not believe the media frenzy about 
amplifying the enemies’ armies, [sic] and do not listen to the shakers and the 
suspicion of the sitters‐away [from jihad] [sic].” 
 
“We are fighting on the principle of Islam and on the word of Tawhid, and Allah will 
not buzzle us; if we die we are martyrs in heaven and their dead in hell [verse].”

“And our determination won’t be bent by the gathering and crowding of the 
international system as Allah is with us and He is our Vector and He is our Judge and 
enough for us, and upon Him we depend [Verse].”  
 
“Victory is coming and He is our ally” 
 
“The One who supported the Muslims in [the Battle of] Badr will bring us victory 
over our enemy; He will bring us victory over the Americans and their agents 
[verse].” [Sic] 
 
“So, be patient O’ supporters of Allah; be patient O’ people of steadfastness, O’ you 
who held the responsibility for the jihad costs at a time when the Ummah alienated 
it, and you provided yourselves and your money and your homes for the cause of 
Allah, and you preferred it [jihad] over your lives; be patient as you are on the 
footsteps of the beloved [Prophet Muhammad], prayer and peace upon him, and his 
supporters [verse].” 
 
“O’ supporters of Allah, increase your mentioning of Allah [prayer] as it is the best 
way to be steadfast [verse].” 
 
“And here, I must praise the stances of the supporters’ wives, as the stances of the 
supporters’ wives remind us with the wives of the kind companions [of the prophet] 
in defending Islam, and in sacrifice and jihad, and holding the responsibility of what 
many men had given up.”  
 
“O’ wives of the supporters, by Allah, if we martyr we will testify, and if we were 
asked we will speak, that you are the granddaughters of Safeyya—may Allah grace 
her—the prophet’s aunt, prayer and peace upon him,  who was amongst those who 
first had faith in him and believed [in] his message and followed that light that 
transcended upon him, and she carried out the most important roles in the Muslims’ 
battles; in Uhhud Battle she was in the vanguard of women who came out to serve 
the mujahideen, and they went out to incite them for Jihad, they went out to aid the 
wounded, and Safeyya was the first [Muslim] woman to kill a Jewish  man.”  
 
“O’ Muslims, we must ponder the act of our brother, the hero [Christmas Day 
bomber] Omar al‐Farooq [Abdulmutallab] al‐Nigeri, who suffers for the pains of the 
Muslims, as he didn’t enjoy food or water, and his eyes hadn’t enjoyed sleep until he 
avenged his brothers. He crossed these made‐up boundaries achieving the highest 
meanings of Islamic brotherhood, as he tried to target the American airliner to 
support his brothers and to respond to the monstrosity of the disbelievers’ raids, 
although our brother Omar isn’t from Yemen but he is from Africa. And despite that 
he has supported you O’ people of Yemen; so why won’t you support Islam when the 
enemy has invaded your homes and invaded your skies  and settled in your waters 
[seas]; what are you sitting [away from jihad] for? Is there a bigger dishonor than 
this one? Is there a bigger shame than this one?”

“It is a Crusade attack and the beginning of battles; [we are] coming down and 
fighting” 
 
“May Allah release you from imprisonment O’ Omar al‐Farooq, you have gives the 
best examples in achieving victory for the Muslims and in answering to Allah who 
commanded killing the Mushrikin.”  
 
“O’ honorable tribes of Yemen, you breaking the [Crusade] campaign today is glory 
to Islam. You breaking the campaign today is defense of the Muslim countries; it is 
the beginning of the road to crawl to Palestine, and if the campaign breaks today 
anything thereafter is easier.”  
 
“And lastly, we ask from Allah to support the Mujahideen’s army and their 
leadership, and to defeat the army of the Crusaders and their agents, and to secure 
the Muslims countries from the invasive occupiers and their agents, and to solidify 
the Mujahideen and protect them and to strengthen their attacks, and give 
martyrdom to us and them.” 
 
“And our last prayer is praise Allah Lord of the Worlds”
