Logical Channel: Logical channels provide data transfer between layer 2 and
higher layer. Logical channels are mapped to transport channels in MAC layer
being part of layer 2.

33.3 Impact
33.3.1 On the System Performance
Different physical channels have different characteristics. Therefore, suitable physical
channels can be selected according to algorithms to bear services and thus to satisfy
the service QoS, and the system load and capacity requirements.

III. BCCH
BCCH carries system information block (SIB). The system information elements are
broadcast in SIBs. An SIB groups together system information elements of the same
nature. Different SIBs have different characteristics, for example, their repetition rate
and the requirements on UEs to re-read the SIBs.
Table 1.1 describes the SIB content briefly and Huawei Usage.

Figure 1.1 shows an example where Transport Block Sets, at certain time instances,
are exchanged between MAC and L1 via three parallel transport channels. Each
Transport Block Set consists of a number of Transport Blocks. The Transmission Time

Radio frame:
Slot: A slot is a duration which consists of fields containing bits. The length of a
slot corresponds to 2560 chips.
Sub-frame:A sub-frame is the basic time interval for HS-DSCH transmission and
HS-DSCH related signaling at the physical layer. The length of a sub-frame
corresponds to 3 slots (7680 chips).
Transport channels are mapped to physical channels. Within the physical layer itself
the exact mapping is from a composite coded transport channel (CCTrCH) to the data
part of a physical channel. In addition to data parts there also exist channel control
parts and physical signals.
Physical signals are entities with the same basic on-air attributes as physical
channels but do not have transport channels or indicators mapped to them. Physical
signals may be associated with physical channels in order to support the function of
physical channels, such as PRACH Preamble part.

The cell must be configured with the PCH and the FACH. By Huawei, a cell is by
default configured with one SCCPCH. The SCCPCH bears one PCH, one FACH#0
that bears signaling, and one FACH#1 that bears service data.

33.7 Implementation
33.7.1 Enabling Feature
The dedicated channels are set up automatically when the services are set up. The
common channels need be set up before a cell is activated.
To set up common channels, perform the following steps:
The common channels set up by default after the three commands are executed are
as follows:
One PICH
One AICH
One PSCH
One SSCH
One PCPICH.
For the setup of the HSDPA channel, refer to the chapter of HSDPA.
Command
MOD PRACHUUPARAS
MOD PRACHASC
MOD PRACHACTOASCMAP
If a cell has only one PRACH, perform the following steps to modify the parameters
as described in Table 1.2.
1)
If the cell is in service, execute the HO CELL command to forcibly hand over the
UEs in the cell to a neighboring cell.
2)
If the cell is activated, execute the DEA CELL command to deactivate the cell.
3)
If the PRACH is activated, execute the DEA PRACH command to deactivate the
PRACH.
4)
Command

RMV/ADD
PRACHSLOTFORMAT
MOD RACH
RMV/ADD RACH
ADD RACHDYNTFS
RMV/ADD RACHDYNTFS
RMV/ADD AICH
5)
6)
Execute the LST FACH or the LST PCH command to list the configuration
information of the SCCPCH to be reconfigured.
If a cell is in service, and the cell has only one SCCPCH or the cell has two
SCCPCHs and the SCCPCH that has the smaller channel ID needs be
reconfigured, execute the HO CELL command to forcibly hand over UEs in the
cell to a neighboring cell. Then execute the DEA CELL command to deactivate
the cell. If there is no such requirement, go directly to step 2.
Command
CTFC of a SCCPCH
RMV/ADD SCCPCHTFC
RMV/ADD FACH
RMV/ADD FACHDYNTFS
RMV/ADD FACHLOCH
RMV/ADD PCH
RMV/ADD PCHDYNTFS
RMV/ADD PICH
2)
If the cell is in service and the PRACH is expected to be removed when the cell
is deactivated, execute the HO CELL command to forcibly hand over UEs in this
cell to a neighboring cell. Then execute the DEA CELL command to deactivate
the cell. If there is no such requirement, skip this step and go directly to step 3.
3)
4)
2)
If the cell is in service and the SCCPCH is expected to be removed when the cell
is deactivated, execute the HO CELL command to forcibly hand over UEs in this
cell to a neighboring cell. Then execute the DEA CELL command to deactivate
the cell. If there is no such requirement, skip this step and go directly to step 3.
3)
Execute the LST FACH command to query if the FACH bears the Common
Traffic Channel (CTCH).
4)
If the FACH bears the CTCH, execute the DEA CELLCBS command to
deactivate the CBS of the cell and execute the RMV CTCH command to remove
the CTCH.
5)
Execute the RMV SCCPCH command to remove the SCCPCH. If the cell is
activated and there are 2 SCCPCHs in the cell, only the SCCPCH that has the
bigger channel ID can be removed. If the cell is activated and only one SCCPCH
exists, the SCCPCH cant be removed.
