Section I Introduction
This manual contains installation, operation and care
instructions and user service information for the
DentalEZ Simplicity Magellan Unit.
The Simplicity delivery system is intended to be used
by trained professional dental care personnel as an
interface device to connect the dental operatory
hand instruments to the appropriate supply utility
such as air, water, vacuum, drain and electrical. It
functions as a system management device that
provides a method of operating the hand instruments from a single control input device.
The Simplicity delivery system is manufactured to be
used with a dental chair that supports a patient in a
reclined seated position. Operators will be positioned around the patients head as required for
optimum access for the specific procedure being
performed. The delivery unit positions the handpieces for the optimum presentation to the operator.
The Magellan is designed to provide trouble-free
service when installed, operated and maintained
according to the procedures set forth in this manual.
To ensure correct installation, carefully read all
the procedure instructions contained in this
manual paying close attention to all notes,
cautions and warnings.
Before proceeding, please review the picture below to
become familiar with the components of the Magellan.
After the unit is installed, please review the operation procedures and care guidelines with the doctor's
staff. Then leave this manual in the doctor's office
for future reference.

USC Base
1. Position the USC base over the four corner
holes that were drilled during pre-installation.
2. Secure the base using four #10 screws.
CAUTION
Rating of main circuit breakers
should be 20 Amp maximum.
WARNING
To avoid the risk of electrical shock, this
equipment must only be connected to a supply
mains with protective earth.
NOTICE
Electrical contractor's parts are not supplied.
The electrical contractor is to provide a covered 115
VAC receptacle which meets all applicable utility
codes and regulations.
For the recommended location of the 115 VAC

Section VI Care
Cleaning
The Simplicity Magellan unit should be cleaned as follows:
Wipe frequently with a damp, lint-free cloth.
Use a neutral detergent to clean stains.
CAUTION
Do not use abrasive cleaning agents.
At the end of the day, turn the master ON/
OFF valve to the OFF position and clean the
instrumentation.
Each morning, turn the master valve ON and
check the air and water system for proper
operation using the three-way syringe.
NOTE: It is recommended that puncture-resistant
nitrile gloves be worn for the following procedures:
Saliva Ejector
Disconnect the saliva ejector valve from the tubing
and repeat the procedure described for the HVE.
Solids Collector
To clean the solids collector, located at the instrument end of the assistant's arm, do the following:
1. Push the lever on the saliva ejector upward
to equalize pressure.
2. Remove the lid by lifting it straight up.
3. Grasp the stem on the basket and lift the
basket straight up.
4. Empty debris and wash out the basket with
warm water, then replace the basket and lid.
Water Lines
To prevent contamination, maintain clean water lines
and regenerate the BioFree tubing. (Refer to the
included packet.)
NOTICE
Cleaning brushes and SlugBusterTM can be
ordered through DentalEZ dealers.
Disinfecting
NOTE: After cleaning the HVE, SE and
solids collector, evacuate two cups of SlugBuster
vacuum line cleaning solution (one cup each) through
the HVE and SE to sanitize the system.
CAUTION
Avoid using disinfectants in spray containers
because they may cause premature staining,
discoloration and/or damage to the unit.
Liquid disinfectants are recommended for use on
Simplicity Magellan external surfaces and should be
applied using a soft, clean cloth.
CAUTION
Do not use disinfectants that
contain any of the following:
Iodophors
Glutaraldehydes
Phenols
Sodium Hypochlorites
Alcohol on plastic surfaces
Use extreme caution when selecting the proper chemical disinfectant for the Simplicity Magellan CMU.

Simplicity Magellan Unit
The DentalEZ Group and its employees are proud of the products we provide to the dental community. We stand behind
these products with a warranty against defects in material and workmanship as provided below.
In the event that you experience difficulty with the application or operation of any of our products, please contact our

DentalEZ warrants the Simplicity Magellan Chair Mounted Unit to be free of defects in material and workmanship, under
normal usage for a period of three (3) years from the date of installation*, with the exception of the following items which
are covered under this warranty for a period of one (1) year from the date of installation:*
Tubings and Fittings
Wiring
Syringe
Please note the following additional terms of our warranty and return policy:
Warranties cover manufacturing defects only and do not cover defects resulting from abuse, improper handling,
cleaning, care or maintenance, normal wear and tear or non-observance of operating, maintenance or installation
instructions. Failure to use authorized parts or an authorized repair facility voids this warranty.
Liability is limited to repair or replacement of the defective product at our sole discretion. All other liabilities,
in particular liability for damages, including, without limitation, consequential or incidental damages are
excluded.
THIS WARRANTY IS IN LIEU OF ALL OTHER WARRANTIES, EXPRESSED OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING
ANY IMPLIED WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY OR FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE. NO
EMPLOYEE, REPRESENTATIVE OR DEALER IS AUTHORIZED TO CHANGE THIS WARRANTY IN
ANY WAY OR TO GRANT ANY OTHER WARRANTY.
WARRANTY REPAIRS: Parts repaired or replaced on a product that is in warranty will be warranted for the duration of
that product's original warranty.
NON-WARRANTY REPAIRS: The warranty on parts either repaired or replaced on an out-of-warranty product will cover
the repaired part only and will be for the time frame of a new parts warranty period.
PRODUCT RETURN: Opened products or product returns more than a year old cannot be returned for credit. There will
be a 15% ($25.00 minimum) restocking charge on all items authorized for return.

Recommended separation distance between
Portable and mobile RF communications equipment and the model @ 3Vrms
The Simplicity Magellan Unit is intended for use in an electromagnetic environment in which radiated RF
disturbances are controlled. The customer or the user of the CMU can help prevent
electromagnetic interference by maintaining a minimum distance between portable and mobile RF
communications equipment (transmitters) and the Magellan as recommended below, according to the
maximum output power of the communications equipment.

For transmitters rated at a maximum output power not listed above, the recommended separation
distance d in meters (m) can be estimated using the equation applicable to the frequency of the
transmitter, where P is the maximum output rating of the transmitter in watts (W) according to the
transmitter manufacturer.
Note 1: At 80 MHz and 800 MHz, the separation distance for the higher frequency range applies.
Note 1:These guidelines may not apply in all situations. Electromagnetic propagation is affected by
absorption and reflection from structures, objects and people.
