What is a Nation?
The word translated nation in Mathew 24:14 is the Greek word ethnos which
means of the same manner, language and habit, tribe, or kind of people or people
group.
Jesus commanded us to reach the nations or Ethnos, Ethnic Groups or People
Groups of the World.
So when we use the term Nation we mean ethnos.
Matthew 24:14 - And this gospel of the kingdom shall be preached in all the world for
a witness unto all nations; and then shall the end come.
Matthew 28:19 - Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of
the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost:
The Scripture actually points out kind of people in Mark 7:26 confirming the Lords
desire to reach all ethnos.
Mark 7:26 - The woman was a Greek, a Syrophenician by nation; and she besought
him that he would cast forth the devil out of her daughter.
Mark 13:10 - And the gospel must first be published among all nations.
Again the word ethnos is used.
Why?
The Lord dispersed the languages of the earth at the Tower of Babel.
Genesis 11:1-9 And the whole earth was of one language, and of one speech. 2 And
it came to pass, as they journeyed from the east, that they found a plain in the land of
Shinar; and they dwelt there. 3 And they said one to another, Go to, let us make brick,
and burn them thoroughly. And they had brick for stone, and slime had they for mortar.
4 And they said, Go to, let us build us a city and a tower, whose top may reach unto
heaven; and let us make us a name, lest we be scattered abroad upon the face of the
whole earth. 5 And the LORD came down to see the city and the tower, which the
children of men builded. 6 And the LORD said, Behold, the people is one, and they
have all one language; and this they begin to do: and now nothing will be restrained
from them, which they have imagined to do. 7 Go to, let us go down, and there
confound their language, that they may not understand one another's speech. 8 So
the LORD scattered them abroad from thence upon the face of all the earth: and they
left off to build the city. 9 Therefore is the name of it called Babel; because the LORD
did there confound the language of all the earth: and from thence did the LORD
scatter them abroad upon the face of all the earth.

But in Revelation every nation will have representation before the throne of God in
Heaven and will worship. Therefore, Jesus commanded us to reach the nations.
Every nation must hear the Gospel if they are to be represented before the throne.
Revelation 7:9-13 - After this I beheld, and, lo, a great multitude, which no man could
number, of all nations, and kindreds, and people, and tongues, stood before the
throne, and before the Lamb, clothed with white robes, and palms in their hands; 10
And cried with a loud voice, saying, Salvation to our God which sitteth upon the
throne, and unto the Lamb. 11 And all the angels stood round about the throne, and
about the elders and the four beasts, and fell before the throne on their faces, and
worshipped God, 12 Saying, Amen: Blessing, and glory, and wisdom, and
thanksgiving, and honour, and power, and might, be unto our God for ever and ever.
Amen.
And again,
Revelation 5:9 - And they sung a new song, saying, Thou art worthy to take the book,
and to open the seals thereof: for thou wast slain, and hast redeemed us to God by
thy blood out of every kindred, and tongue, and people, and nation;
How many nations or ethnos are there in the world?

people is established.
Example: the United States is considered reached even though there are many
people that are not Christian.
