INTRODUCTION.

SIGMA ENGINEERING WORKS ( Sigma ) delivers a complete and comprehensive range of


engineering and fabrication services to the Oil and Gas, Energy, Maritime, Petrochemical, Power
Generation and Utility industry sectors.
With fully equipped facilities in both Mussafah, Abu Dhabi and Jebel Ali Free Zone, Dubai. Sigma

East and North African Regions.
You are a part of Sigma team that is proud of its commitment in providing outstanding quality
products and service to its customers. Based on this commitment, we have invested significant
time, effort, and resources to implement a Quality Management System (QMS) that meets API
Q1 and ISO 9001 quality standard requirements.
The purpose of this hand book is to familiarize you with the most basic precepts of Sigmas QMS.
OUR VISSION AND MISION STATEMENT
OUR PATH TO ISO & API CERTIFICATIONS
Sigma received its ISO 9001 certification in 1996.Since Sigma is in Oil and Gas industry, our top
management has decided to upgrade the QMS to API Q1, which is specific to Oila and industry.As
a result, Sigma registered their name
Sigma received its ISO and API Q1 certification in 2004. In order to maintain our ISO
certification, Sigma undergoes a rigorous audit-based review each year. Our Registrar, API QR,
conducts this review.
Maintaining our certification requires the Companys management team to be fully committed to
ensuring ISO & API requirements are fully implemented in all aspects of our business operations
and activities. It also requires our Sigma employees to be fully committed to ensuring that ISOrelated guidelines and requirements are being met on a continuous basis. Finally, an effective
QMS requires us to continually seek quality process improvements in the way of effectiveness
and efficiency.
In addition to ISO and API certification, since 2006 Sigma is maintaining a quality control system
which establishes all ASME U1 and U2 requirements including material, design, fabrication,
examination and inspection by Authorized inspectors for vessels and vessel parts are met.
WHY DID SIGMA CHOOSE THE ISO & API PATH?
Our company chose to follow ISO 9001 and API Q1 because we believe there is always a need to
control or improve the quality of our products and services to our customers, to reduce the cost
of poor quality, and to become more competitive. As our Company continues to grow, it becomes
increasingly more important to manage our growth in ways that wont compromise the quality of
the products and services being providing to our customers.
HOW DOES ISO AFFECT YOU, THE SIGMA EMPLOYEE?
We expect all of our employees to continually look at their assigned areas of responsibilities in
ways that embrace continual quality improvement-related initiatives. This is done so in an effort
to achieve more effective and efficient results relative to our quality processes and our QMS as a
whole. This requires higher levels of personal accountability for what goes well and not so well
with respect to performing our quality service-related responsibilities.

Our objective is to provide outstanding quality service in a manner thats consistent with our
Companys Quality Policy and is consistent with what our customers deserve and expect. Finally,
we request that you be good stewards of our customers assets and resources.
All Sigma employees are required to understand the basic precepts of Sigma quality
requirements, and build on their understanding of these requirements, especially as it pertains to
serving our customers and in execution of our assigned employee-related responsibilities.

UNDERSTANDING SIGMAs QMS.
The goal of Sigmas QMS is to enhance our Customers overall satisfaction through effective
application of the system, including processes for continual improvement of the system and the
assurance of conformity to customer and applicable regulatory requirements.
The Companys QMS is supported by procedures and guidance contained in four (4) key
documents

Quality Policy
Quality Manual
Operating procedures
Process Specification Manual,

Another important aspect of your responsibilities is to understand how to develop and process
continual improvements that are consistent with Sigmas Quality Policy and objectives that are
provided in our Quality Manual. All the referenced manuals are available for review (and
download) on the Companys intranet website.
