After IT, why you have chosen Planning and merchandising as your field.

When I came here in Dubai ,I was still working with IBM. Simultaneously I was looking for job opportunity here
in the same field but fortunately/unfortunately job openings for the tools/s/w I was working on were not there.
As in Dubai there is a good growth in retail/distribution so I decided to get into it as I found it interesting too
where you actually get to know the lifecycle of a product and I feel as a consumer I could relate to it and found
easy.
1. Which are the major departments in the end to end purchase & distribution system?

2. What is meant by ERP system?
Enterprise Resource Planning is a business management system which allows an organization to use a system
of integrated applications to manage the business.
3. What is the difference between functional and procedural understanding?
4. Multi-tasking, Reliable and Flexible. Please give an example of each of these.
In my department I am handelling purchase, inventory management, claims, returns, shipment scheduling,
barcode management.basically everything so obviously for the smooth flow it needs not only reliability but
flexibility as well.

Both are interrelated. If you are meticulous automatically u are concerned about quality.

7. What is meant by forecasting and what the importance of forecasting is?
Forecasting is an estimation of sale of the products based on their history sale.
You can play with your money smartly.

of each of them.
In catalogue management I see whether all the skus are there available to order in addition to the new
launches.
See if the prices are correct.
9. What is inventory control?
It is movement of right stock at the right time and price.

Fisrt there is strict regulation that items to be purchased should be more than 1 yr of expiry at the time of
receipt in the WH.

And then in the ERP system we have different buckets under which items fall. Based on that depletion is done.
11. Why service level is important and how do you measure it. What are the key considerations to improve
the service rate?
It is do decide how we are serving to our customers as well as suppliers service rate to us.
If we are not able to provide/serve the required stock on time then definitely we are losing on business and
which also means we went wrong in forecasting and buying.
