January...a new year, a fresh start, a new

beginning. I've heard it said that January is the
worst month of the year. After the holidays,
going back to "real life" can be a bit of a letdown. I have a theory that the real reason
January is a bummer is because in a quest to
lose that last ten pounds we are all walking
around half starved and grouchy (at least for
the first two weeks - then we usually give up). I
like to look at it as an opportunity. What are
my goals for the coming year? Which areas
need improvement? What can I do to make
our children's ministry better? As I ponder
these questions over the coming days, I would
ask you to pray. Pray for me, for our ministry,
and especially for our children. And while
you're at it, pray about where God might use
you to minister to our children in 2016.
We will go back to our normal schedule
beginning Jan. 6th with Chocolate Night in
Awana. That will be followed by Zoo Night
(Jan. 13th), Make a Joyful Noise Night (Jan.
20th), and everyone's favorite, S'mores Night
(Jan. 27th). So basically Awana in January is
going to be a sweet, noisy, messy zoo! We will
also be returning this month to our typical
Sunday evening schedule with BLAST (Bible
Learning and Skills Time) beginning at
5:00pm. While I have enjoyed the Christmas
season, I'm looking forward to getting back to
our routine and I'm excited to see what God is
going to do at Southside in
the new year!
Wishing you a joyful and
blessed 2016!
