Tuberculosis is the second killer disease throughout the world, and there
are around 9.4 million incidents of pulmonary tuberculosis. Indonesia became the
third countries which have cases of tuberculosis in the world after India and China
with the number of sufferers is about 10 of the total number of tuberculosis. New
tuberculosis sufferers in the region of clinics Kedundung still quite high, i.e. 24
sufferers by 2015. The main problem in Indonesia with regard to the treatment of
pulmonary tuberculosis was the lack of understanding and knowledge of the
public about pulmonary tuberculosis.
The design in this study was observational analytic approach with case
control study. The population in this research is all the citizens of the village
Kedundung. Samples are taken using the method matching 24 case group and the
control group as many as 48 people. Independent variables in the research is
knowledge and dependet variable is tuberculosis incidence. The collection of data
using a detailed questionnaire, the data were analyzed using the Odds Ratio with a
level of significance of Ho < 1.
The results showed from 72 people, 72% had a reasonably good level of
knowledge about tuberculosis. Obtained OR 1.5 which means there is influence
between the level of knowledge about tuberculosis of events. This means the
community has less knowledge about TB have 1.5 times greater risk exposed to
TB than communities that have a sufficient level of knowledge about tuberculosis.
Summary of the research is a large part of society has enough knowledge
about tuberculosis but still many people are contracting the tuberculosis disease.
Therefore, it is expected that health workers can provide guidance and
information about the importance of prevention of tuberculosis diseases.
