Best Utah Valley Sledding Spots

Below is a list of some of the most popular sledding spots near Provo Utah.
Provo City Area
1. Rock Canyon Park 2620 N. 1200 East, Provo. This is a long standing favorite of
sledding enthusiasts. 360 degrees of shear sledding fun. Big hills are on the east side of
the bowl, smaller hills on the west side.

2. Bicentennial Park- 1440 S 1600 E, Provo. This park as a nice big hill that part of the hill
is almost entirely in the shadethus preventing the snow from melting too fast.

Provo Canyon Area

Though a bit further away, Provo Canyon is almost guaranteed to always have
snow, along with some beautiful scenery!
1. Big Springs Park This is one of our favorites!! Located 25 minutes from BYU campus.
Travel up Provo Canyon and turn right at Vivian Park onto South Fork Road. Continue up
the road several miles (go past South Fork Park) and Big Springs Park will be located on
your right. Park on the very east side of the park. There is a snow packed road (closed off
to cars) that heads directly east. Hike up the road up about .75 miles to a big meadow.
Lots of fun powder to sled in, but full disclosure traditional plastics sleds wont work in this
deep of powder, but the bed sled sure will! Then on the way back sled all the way down
the road bobsled style!

2. Squaw Peak Road Provo- Rumor is there are many great sledding spots off this road.
Just beware of the snowmobilers.

3. Deer Creek Reservoir (30 minutes away) There are some great hills surrounding
Deer Creek Reservoir on the south side. Make sure to stay clear of the ice since it often
gets soft around the edges. Also make sure to respect private property.

South Utah Valley

Interesting enough, south Utah valley tends to get more snow than Provo City.
Here are a few of the hot spots to go sledding.
1. Diamond Fork Canyon in Spanish Fork Canyon- Rumor is there are several rolling
hills that are generally safe for sledding and lots of snow !
2.

Peteetneet Museum & Cultural Arts Center in Payson Academy (10 S. 600
East, Payson) This is a longtime favorite of people living in the southern part of the valley.
The long, slick hill offers some excellent sledding or tubing. Weekends and holidays can
get crowded.

3. Spanish Oaks Elementary (2701 E. Canyon Crest Drive, Spanish Fork)

North Utah Valley
As mother nature would have it, there is often more snow in the northern part of
the valley then in Provo City. Here are some popular reported spots.
1.

Point of the Mountain in Lehi- As you are driving north on I-15 you will often see
people sledding on the south side of the point just east of the freeway. This is a great spot
with long slopes and a safe field to coast into with no trees or other obstacles.

2.

Tibble Fork Reservoir- (American Fork Canyon)- There are no official sledding hills
here, but many families have found this to be their favorite spot. Steep runs and high
speed make for fun and intense sledding, but the snow and scenery are incredible!
(dont forget your camera). To reach the canyon, take Exit #287 from I-I5. Turn east onto
UT-92 and continue driving into American Fork Canyon. There is a $6 per vehicle fee at
the toll station entrance to the canyon. After about 5 miles, turn left, following signs to
Granite Flat Campground/Tibble Fork Reservoir
