INTRODUCTION

On the job training program is the part of our course Communicative English in the 4th
semester. Training was started on November 17th, 2014 to December 15th , 2014.the main
objective of the course is to improve your fluency in language and also to develop
communication and interpersonal skills. This training program offers a great opportunity to
work with experienced teacher. They had given me significant, independent responsibility as
well as substantial guidance and support. I chose Nirmala public school, Erumely to do the
on the job training. The training was for a period of one month. This training also helped to
learn from one another, develop confidence. The teaching atmosphere was comfortable
friendly and encouraging

SCHOOL PROFILE
Nirmala Public School (affiliated to CBSE) is a catholic co-educational institution
established in 1983 at the school is managed by the France scan clarist sister of St. Thomas
Province. Kanjirapally under articles 29 and 30 of the constitution of India. As a minority
institution Nirmala Public School maintains its christian atmosphere, identity and character.
It is open to students of all communities irrespective of caste, colour or creed. Nirmala
Public School is a CBSE high school.
To impart to students a quality education under the guidance of the sisters and teachers.
Their aim is not only to train the young mind but also to mould character, promote
leadership and initiate them to shoulder responsibilities maintaining a high standard of
dignity and probity in public and private life. School is following the syllabus of Central
Broad of Secondary Education (CBSE)

GENERAL EXPERIENCES

This training program offer a unique opportunity to learn and improve communication and
interpersonal skills. This training made me a responsible person. I taught in class 5A and 5B
and also I got many substitutions. I was a strict teacher in classrooms and a good friend
outside classes.
The school which I went for my training was the school where i completed my school
studies. Our principal Sr.Vincy was so strict and she needs complete discipline in class
rooms. I had tried my best to keep the discipline of my class.

ACADEMIC EXPERIENCE
I taught in class 5A and 5B.My students are really good. They hadnt created any burden to
me. They had given good attention in my classes.
Class 5A:
My first class as a teacher was in class 5A.It was a class filled with smiling faces. Sr.Mary
my supervisor, had given her textbook and portions. I had to teach one poem, two fiction and
the grammar portions. Adverbs and its degree comparison. I didnt have to stress a lot there
as they were eager to learn things.
They were happy for their new teacher. Another astonishing thing was they asked for
homework. They were so studious, they always want me to teach. I had taught them the
portions, and they asked me for test paper. I made them to write articles and essays. I made
them to write conversations and made them to present it in class front. I had teach them the
three chapters from communicative English text book and Adverb and its degree its

comparison from grammar tree. Conducted test paper and they had scored good marks in
every test paper
Class 5B:
This class was a challenge to me. I loved going to their class because they were more than
students to me, they in fact were teaching me every single day. I quickly could finish my
portions there and so we had plenty of time left for activities. In class to keep them
entertained I made them play games and read to them poetry. This class taught me the great
power of influence a teacher has on her students. I made them to write essays and articles. I
made them to say speeches. We had got many time for arranging for science exhibition. I
had helped them a lot for their experiments.

EXPERIENCES WITH TEACHERS


I was very glad to work with my teaches who had teached me in my school days. they
helped me a lot to improve my teaching skills. They provide me their time tables in higher
classes when I felt difficult in smaller classes. They had also provides me a lot of lips to
control the students.
The non teaching stalls also helped me and our Principal Sister had always encouraged me.
They had seen me as a little teacher. I never felt an alien feeling in our school. It was a great
opportunity to be a teacher in my own school, with my own teachers.

EXAMINATION
Formative Assessment (FA3) examination was being conducted in the last two weeks of the
OJT. Students were made to revise their portions during substitution classes. I was assigned
the duty of arranging answer sheets according to different classes. The students who needed

help or were physically unfil were made needed help or were made to write their
examination in the staff room . There were few students who had some physical disabilities
and i had helped them . The question paper was read out to them .Other teachers appreciated
my willingness to help the students. I was strict throughout the exam time.

FEEDBACK
My students loved me a lot; they had given me many gifts. They had scored good marks for
English in class test and in the model exam. Their class teacher appreciated me for their
improvement. My teacher also gave me many tips and we were like friends. The office staffs
also helped me.
Though it was for me only a period of one month, I was really attached to all the students
were also upset to know I will not be in the school from 15th December. All of them
appreciate my teaching. I felt proud when teachers told me that students are using the tips
which i taught them . Students thanked me for taking revision as it helped them during their
examination . They presented me cards and gifts. I was happy to get good comments from
teachers and parents. I was glad to hear from the principal Sr Vincy Maria that i can apply in
this school as a teacher after my graduation.

CONCLUSION
The OJT started from 17th November and ended on 15th December. The On The Job Training
was very helpful and also to improve our communication skills. Teachers and students had a
great cooperation with me. It has helped me to become a responsible person. I taught in
classes 5A and 5B.It helped me to reduce my fear. My vocabulary and communication
scored beyond boundaries and I am a more confident person now. I may use as a profession

in future, it also helped me to improve my communication skills. More over this training
gave the best time of my life till now.
The trainee have been able to improve their skills .training has helped in learning man
teaching potential. It has been beneficial not only for the trainees, the school students also
have been able to gain knowledge beyond their books and involved in interactive
sessions .Moreover this has helped the trainee s in building good support with student folks.
By this one month long program ,the trainees have been able to overcome the unbound fear
and get over the fear of public speaking.
This programme thus, has been a great opportunity in improving communication skills.
