A. Insights

Reflections
There are two kinds of teachers: the kind that fills you with so much quail
shot that you can't move, and the kind that just gives you a little prod behind and
you jump to the skies.
Robert Frost
Every child is special is an overwhelming movie which tells the aptitudes
of a special individual by helping and supporting them. It is the story of a child,
who needs special attention from his environment unfortunately, its environment
lead him to crash in one side and become aloof. The teacher who experienced the
same problem helped him to stand and believe for the things they think it is
impossible for him to do. The self confidence is an important aspect to become
positive in every trials that life may offered to a person and it must develop in
early age but Ishaan is the child with disorder that he cant easily recognize the
letters thats why the macro skills of reading and writing is difficult for him to
accomplish which the society didnt understand.
The mother of Ishaan is a lovable woman. She is a woman who will stand
beside for the sake of her family and a soft heart towards to her sons. The father
of Ishaan is a tough man but become weak when he realized the mistake he did to
his son. He didnt believe in the capability of his sons but in the end of the story
he learned the importance of loving unconditionally without the judgment of the
community towards Ishaan with dyslexia. Parents are very important in childs

development. Fulfilling the responsibility is there role by giving tender love and
care for their children.
On the other hand, as future educator, I realized that teacher is not only a
simple and easy profession but a lifetime commitment in the heart of the learners,
co-teachers, and parents. The stakeholders of the curriculum help each other to
achieve certain objective specifically in the learners need. In this movie, I learned
different strategies of each person in helping Ishaan.
Millions of teachers are using different methods in teaching the students
and aim to learn their students ca`refully and effectively. The teachers of Ishaan
are authoritative that students must learn discipline and proper attitude. They are
focused on the normal behavior of children which Ishaan is not able to do that
lead to misunderstanding until Teacher Nikumbh changed the way he felt about
himself. Ishaan trust and believe him. All the difficulties Ishaan experience left
out and the hope starting grown up with him. Teacher Nikumbh believes that
every child is special even the children with difficulties. As future teacher I
realized that I cannot choose what kind of student I can have but accepting the
way they are and help them to achieve their dreams. Ill be happy seeing them
doing what they love.

Compare: Traditional vs. Contemporary teaching

The teacher is the controller in learning environment of traditional
teaching which the student is the receiver of the information or knowledge.
GalingEDUC.to : Traditional VS. Modern Teaching (2012, March 19) stated that
student is knowledge holes that teacher must fill it with information. Nazzal, N.
(2014, December 6) defines traditional teaching in a process of chalk and talk
method.
Teaching Here and Now: The meaning and place of contemporary learning
in the curriculum. (n.d.) stated that contemporary teaching is way of developing
the skills of the learner using the environment outside of the classroom. It is
implementing the learning activities upon students experiences inside and outside
of the classroom.

Provide classroom situation related to the story

Learners are more interested in the activity that shows their talents. Most
of the teacher in the movie focuses on the development of the cognitive
development of the student. The teacher will provide information needed by the
learner and used strategy of lecturing. The one teacher used the art of questioning
to the student. He asked the meaning of the poem based on the level of
understanding of the student. Teacher Nikumbh used the collaborative method. He
let the student to think out of the box not just only providing the student of
information.

Some teachers didnt understand the true situation of students like making
conclusion. Ishaan have dyslexia and most of them think that Ishaan is a lazy boy.
In a real classroom situation, a student who is always absent thinks that he/ she is
an indolent child
Importance of teacher, parents, peer, and curriculum to ones development
Teacher will help the learner to develop the intelligences they have inside
using different strategies in teaching. He/ she will develop the cognitive, affective
and psychomotor skills of the learners. It is a lifetime profession because learning
is continues process.
Parents are the most special in ones development. They provide an
attachment needed by an individual. They fulfill all the things needed by the
learner by giving their needs. The most crucial part is their positive influence in
the child.
Peer will help to develop each personality in creating a socialize
environment by collaborating with each other. Sharing the ideas and knowledge is
very crucial in ones development. The interaction towards harmonious
relationship is the positive development of peer.
Curriculum is based on the learners need. It will help a lot in ones
development by taking the program inside of the curriculum. It is a plan learning
process towards the development of mind and skills of the learner. Inside of the
curriculum are the stakeholders that will develop it to meet the needs of the
learners. Teachers, parents, students, school administrator and others are the
stakeholders that are responsible for having a good curriculum.

B. Conclusions
Every child is special is very appropriate movie for teachers that will inspired to
continue the good service for their sons and daughters. It shows effectiveness of the
strategies used by the teacher in learners development. Understanding the disabilities or
the weaknesses of the learner by supporting them physically and emotionally together
with their love ones is very crucial to overcome conflict during development process.
Adults should not demand their kids to become top in all their subjects so that
they can live without any pressure coming from their parents. Every Child Is Special is a
movie that brings hope for those who experience learning difficulties. Friends and family
must support and love the intelligences and uniqueness of the child.
C. Recommendation
Teacher must always be positive and patience. Be creative in teaching the subject
matter and try to be open minded for all. Each program or activities must appropriate in
the level of comprehension and skills of the student. Compliment is way of developing
the self-esteem of the students that will help them to continue and to take a step towards

their dreams. This movie can be a great motivation and teaching aid for teachers. It is
shows the real situation of learning environment.
