Familiarizing the students with the specific terminology of sociological knowledge; the ability to
understand and use the results of sociological investigations regarding health care.

Seminary structure

Medical sociology an introduction. Short history of Medical Sociology. The


definition and fields of research in medical sociology.

Methodology and types of research in medical sociology.

The relation between medic and patient. The food-related illness today.

Pathological behavior in western societies: alcoholism, drugs, and smoking as both


medical and social phenomena.

Way of life vs. style of life. Rural and urban communities in contemporary Europe.
