I don't think a card reader works in place of the

floppy dive unless you can do some re-programing.
:( I'd love to be wrong though. For how cheap the
su700 goes for I'd pick one up again.
I think you have to buy a bunch of adapters and
cables,
+ $$$, but according to the first
comment on this site you can open it up and jack
into the back.

If you want to stick with using specialized
hardware rather than a PC, but still want to speed
things up you might want to consider looking for an
Akai s6000 with the USB option installed to use
with the su700. The detachable front panel is cool
as hell. I mean you could make all your samples on
the su700 and just record them into the s6000
when you were done. For $300-400 they are a
crazy deal.
Still, If you do want to go with upgrading the
su700 normally, what you'd have to do is buy a
Yamaha ASIB1 SCSI interface. Unfortunately,
they're expensive and rare and then get a SCSI to
IDE adapter(Also expensive and rare) and then a
to IDE to CF reader. If I'm wrong about needing a
SCSI to IDE someone correct me, please. That
should work. SD to IDE to SCSI and I think even
SCSI to IDE to USB should work too! But with USB
I think you might have to format the HD a certain
way, probably FAT32. I've wanted to do the mod
myself for a while, but it's a lot of time, research
and money finding the right parts. There are 2
ASIB1's on ebay now, but I have no idea about the
other specific parts you need beyond that. It might
take some trial and error.

What you might do is look for people selling a

Yamaha A3000, A4000, or A5000 and see if they
have the card installed and part it out. Probably
cheaper that way. Also, look around for people
have modified their sampler to read CF cards
already and are selling them, it's probably a
cheaper way to get the other parts as well. People
with the newer Emu or Akai's have done this.
If you do the mod please post about it!
SU700 has interesting effects I keep a Yamaha
A3000 around just because it has those same
effects. How much ram do you have in the SU700?
Haha, does it take you 30 floppy disks to save
samples? heh

No, The floppy are more for saving a beat you
created. The SU has no build it sounds you have to
record everything into it..

Maybe keep you eyes peeled for an su700 with scsi

already installed, and better yet a hard drive also.
It would be a cheaper easier route than buying,
and putting all of that in yourself.

Ive just found another old SU700 and Im using it
with an external 250mb Zip which still loads my old
projects

Anyone know what the latest internal storage info

is?
- SCSI > IDE converter for CF reader?
- SCSI internal HD?
- Any other storage options to dump samples and
save / backup easily?
Ive got an Yamaha A5000 sampler which can read
the SU700 yamaha disc format
... so I had used it to browse my SU700 Zip disks
to dump samples from a PC.
Ive been waiting for Chicken Systems translator to
support Yamaha A5k.
But the SU700 sampling is fantastic with a really
low noise-floor so thinking that just sampling onto
it is a viable option.

Recently I replaced the floppy disk with a
RaizinMonster: Compact Flash to SCSI card that I
found on eEbay. My SU700 uses a 8GB compact
flash card divided in 8 partitions of one 1GB each.
No more floppy disks or external SCSI drives!

I'm completely new to machine, so excuse me if

this is a stupid question. I've looked through the
manual and can't find the info. Where can edit the
parameters for the efx other than the level of the
send from each track? Where do I adjust predelay, lfo speed, reverb time that kind of thing?

The RaizinMonster CF/SCSI card doesn't emulates

a 1.4 MB "floppy disk" like the module installed on
your SU700, so there's no need to "change disks".
The RaizinMonster behaves like a regular SCSI
hard-disk. However the SU700 must have the SCSI
expansion installed to connect the RaizinMonster
50-pin SCSI port.
The SU700 can recognize SCSI disks as big as
8GB, but maximum partition size is 1GB. So with
the RazinMonster I'm using a 8GB compact flash
with 8 partitions of 1GB each. The RaizinMonster
emulates a SCSI hard disk using Compact Flash
cards - much better solution than a 1.4MB floppy
emulator.

Thanks. And now for question number 2. Is there a

To jump to different song positions you have to use
the SCENE/MARKER buttons - which have a switch
that changes the function that the buttons perform.
When the switch is set to SCENE, the buttons
store a scene which is an entire environment
of knob settings, mute settings, and effect
settings. Press a button until you see "SCENE
STORED" message. Change scenes by
pressing the scene buttons.

When the switch is set to MARKER, the

buttons store song positions. Press a button
until the MARKER STORED message appears.
Jump from different song positions by just
pressing the marker buttons.
