Memory In Motion
What You Need: No supplies needed
What You Do:
Before the Activity: Say the Memory Verse with the kids several times.
During the Activity: Teach the following motions to the children while saying the verse. With
God (point both hands up) all things (spread your arms out in a moving circle in front of your
body) are possible (two thumbs up), Matthew 19:26. (Open hands like a book.) After the
children have learned the motions, repeat several times.
What You Say:
Before the Activity: Lets say our memory verse!. It is: With God all things are possible,
Matthew 19:26. Now lets say it together! (Repeat several times.)
During the Activity: Now I am going to teach you some motions that we can do while we say
our verse. Watch me and we can do them together. With God (point both hands up) all things
(spread your arms out in a moving circle in front of your body) are possible (two thumbs up),
Matthew 19:26. (Open hands like a book.) You are all doing so well! Lets do it again! (Repeat
as desired.)
After the Activity: Way to go! Our memory verse for this month tells that God gave us His only
Son. He loved the world SO MUCH that He gave us Jesus! Who can do that? [Bottom Line]
Only Jesus can do that!

Make It Real
What You Need: Bible marked at Matthew 19:26 prayer journal
SMALL GROUP LEADER (SGL): Have you ever been afraid of a storm? Maybe the thunder
was really loud or the rain was hard? I have! When I was younger I would get afraid during bad

storms all the time. But I dont anymore. You want to know why? Because I know Jesus has
power over everything, just like in our Bible story today.
What did Jesus do to show He has power over storms in our story today? (Pause for
responses.) Yes! Jesus calmed the storm! He told it to stop and it stopped! We need to
remember that whenever we get afraid of a storm. Jesus is more powerful than a storm! Who
can do that?
CHILDREN and SGL: [Bottom Line] Only Jesus can do that!
SGL: Who can do that?
CHILDREN and SGL: [Bottom Line] Only Jesus can do that!
SGL: Because with God all things are possible. It even says so in our Memory Verse! Lets
say it together with the notions.
CHILDREN and SGL: With God (point both hands up) all things (spread your arms out in a
moving circle in front of your body) are possible (two thumbs up), Matthew 19:26. (Open
hands like a book.) (Repeat the verse a few times together.)
SGL: I think youre just about ready to say our verse all by yourself. Next time Ill have my
stickers/hand stamp ready so you can try. Yay! But now its time to write in our prayer journal.
Today I want us to make a list of things we think are powerful. What do you think of when I say
the word powerful? When I say your name, tell me what you think.
Write each childs name and what they say beside it. Remember to print the words so the
children can recognize their names and the letters.
SGL: Wow, what a list! These are some powerful things! We can use it when we pray to tell
Jesus how we believe He has power over everything! Would anyone like to pray before I pray?
Give each child that wants to pray the opportunity to do so.
Now Ill pray.

Prayer
SGL: Dear God, thank You for the Bible and all of the true stories in it that teach us about
Jesus. Jesus has power over everythingeven things like (read the list the children made).
We think that is SUPER cool! Help us to believe more and more in Your power and love. We
love You, God. In Jesus name, amen.

Jesus Calms the Storm Coloring Page
What You Need: Jesus Calms the Story Activity Page, crayons
What You Do: Have the children color the page. Keep in mind, advise the children that the
picture will be folded on the dotted lines to show the storm and then after Jesus calms the
storm. (See example and show the children).
What You Say:
After the Activity: The disciples were scared when the storm started to rock and toss the boat!
They forgot that Jesus was with them. Could the disciples calm that storm? No way. Could
Jesus calm that storm? Absolutely! Who can do that? [Bottom Line] Only Jesus can do
that!

Make It Fun
Rainstorm
What You Need: No supplies needed
What You Do:
Before the Activity: Sit down together in an open area of the room.
During the Activity: Repeat a series of snaps, claps, pats, and stomps while varying speeds
and intensities.
After the Activity: Introduce the Bible story.
What You Say:
Before the Activity: Hello, boys and girls! Come sit down on the floor with me.
During the Activity: Stretch your legs out nice and straight and watch and repeat what I do.
(Start snapping, alternating hands, quietly at first and then a little louder.) That sounds a little
bit like rain! (Continue snapping, alternating hands. Then pat legs left and right quietly at first
and then a little louder.) The rain is getting heavier. Everybody stand up! (Start stomping,
alternating feet.) Its really raining now. Sometimes when it rains really hard, you hear a
thunder clap. Everybody clap your hands together one time really loud. (Pause.) Wow! You
guys made it sound like a rainstorm using only your hands and your feet and legs! Freeze right
where you are.
After the Activity: That was so much fun! Today we heard about a Bible story about a really big
storm when some fishermen were out on the water. Do you remember who calmed the storm?
Jesus!
